He also just traveled through a couple of european countries, then the other side of the US and back, and then practiced the debate while running the country _while_ sick, and still showed up for the debate. I'd be tired, too, and I'm 37. He is a good man, he has done good things for our country, and even more importantly, he has slowed the damage that the Republicans tirelessly try to cause in our Democracy. We cannot let a Republican president be in office when Alito or Thomas croak.

Exactly the point I've been trying to make with some of my Democrat friends who thought that the sky was falling and I reminded them that he had just returned from a trip to Europe where he had jet lag when he got there and then upon returning to the United States a second dose of jet lag for an 81 year old man plus campaigning and practicing for the debate and having a cold and I could see not having the best performance after that at my age. Is campaign rally the very next day proved that he was back on track and probably totally hydrated. Dump that chump drumpf! I'm ridin' with Biden!!!

She's 100% correct and now that the shock of last night is wearing off and I can evaluate things from a less emotional and more logical perspective, I'm still Team Biden. My sentiments exactly, Leigh. When I hear the calls for replacing Biden, I can't help but think of what happened to the Democrats in 1968. I was just a kid, but my social studies teacher had us watch the election closely. LBJ withdrew from the race, Bobby Kennedy was killed and Eugene McCarthy lost the nomination to Hubert Humphrey, leaving the Democrats looking like they were in disarray, and the election ended up being a cakewalk for Nixon. This debate was just a small moment in time. I think the best thing for Biden and the Democrats to do is just put it behind them and press on.

All due respect (to both you & to Leigh at the beginning of her video), I disagree about the two moderators' performance. I feel they did a good job of asking the right, and tough, questions....of both candidates.....and when Trump would completely ignore the ones he didn't like, again & again & again ("But first I wanna finish my last point..."), they politely but firmly repeated those questions. So that Trump could either be forced to be blunt with his answers, or be shown clearly to viewers how evasive he was being. This debate, in particular, demanded they maintain control & civility over the candidates, and they did that as much as a debate with Trump can hope to be.

The guy who accurately predicted every election since 1984 and never got any of them wrong, well according to his 13 keys system Biden is on a safe path to reelection as it stands now, regardless of debate performances, as historically debates have proven to have zero predictive value if an incumbent president is less than 6 keys negative, where Biden is only 2 keys negative as it stands, which is safe for Biden.

Told my DIL, a poor debate performance is not indicative of poor performance. He had a bad night. We can all just get over it, until one of us suddenly becomes perfect. Like my conservative son said, “I’d rather vote for Biden’s corpse than a wannabe dictator.”

Politicsgirl, our anxiety and fear, I believe, we can use. I think we experienced a wake up call informing us that even though Biden has more integrity, intelligence, compassion, etc., etc. than Trump, a convict, liar, a generally bad SOB, etc., Biden and the Democratic Party are not infallible.
