I have seen your full length interview with Somanath Sir, and it’s pretty much clear ISRO is not very much Concerned about our curiosity, probably they do not want to public too much detail considering our hostile competitors specifically China.

Thank you for explaining the reason behind lack of a better camera. I am a bit dumb so it never crossed my mind how critical it is to minimize the size of data transmitted back to earth on a time limited mission.

For sending high resolution photo ,it requires high technology and that is equivalent to high cost . Then , we will not compare it with Interstellar.

Actually it is totally dependent on compression format. If we invent high compression format beyond png, jpeg then we can send HD camera and get images..

​@@devanshu5718Either way making comparisons with Interstellar isn't the real goal. It's ok if there's not too many images because the purpose isn't that. Also the goal always includes cost-effectiveness, yes but not for making comparisons.

@@_c.c.c_Exactly ,i agree with you.but nowadays a day people are comparing with Interstellar. Why does it cost below Interstellar ? Because of not very advanced technology( like NASA) and many free assistance from Nasa and EUROPEAN Space agency. We are not calculating the cost of the orbital of chandrayan 2. And also , traveling time is too high approx ,40 days. Main reason is that we are not first on moon. Suppose, If ISRO becomes first on Jupiter or different celestial bodies,then i don't think the cost will be low. But , i respect our scientists and ISRO and have a faith over their potential. Love you , ISRO

The rope and pulley system in center is to open the ramp. Because Ramp is folded initially and unfolds upwards before lowering on moon surface.

During the the live streaming I also noticed the re targeating phase, and I was also thinking if the rover is hovering over a big crater with stiff angle below then it had to drift a lot to find a plane surface, whether it had that much fuel to perform the maneuver, my heart beats were highest at that moment but we know everything went well and here we are. And u said it correct we should stop expecting more images or video, the rover and lander should do as much science possible as it has only one lunar day. Hoping for best let's see.

The reflectivity of the regolith, known as its albedo, can influence its temperature. Regolith with a high albedo reflects a larger portion of the incoming solar radiation, resulting in lower temperatures. Conversely, regolith with a low albedo absorbs more sunlight and tends to have higher temperatures.

I'm more interested to find out how the moon's regolith ended up with a high albedo regolith when it's mineral composition is largely plagioclase and pyroxene. In Earth that usually gives black soil. The weathering process with negligible water and just the sharp difference between extreme cold and extreme heat from radiation alone must have created some very interesting secondary minerals to have high albedo

@@aleenaprasannan2146 yes ma'am you are right. The regular basis alternate freezing and thawing of the lunar surface may have created this loose sandy texture insulating soil that's why the drastic change of the temperature in top layer has been seen. Sounds pretty interesting 😃

For example, regolith rich in metallic minerals like iron or basalt may have higher thermal conductivity compared to regolith composed mainly of silicate minerals. Volatile content:Some regolith materials may contain volatile compounds such as water or carbon dioxide. The presence of volatile compounds can affect the temperature distribution within the regolith. During heating or cooling processes, these volatile compounds can undergo phase changes, which can impact the thermal behavior of the regolith and introduce temperature variations. The regolith on the Moon predominantly consists of silicate minerals, while the regolith on Mars contains a mix of iron-rich minerals and oxidized compounds

We need to release more budget for isro, after seeing that landing and rover videos, i cried 😭 that video quality sucks man its 2023 not 80s anymore and isro social media management is worst. With this little budget we cant explore space full potential

@@indian9632 that's the problem, lot of people don't know anything about the chandrayan mission objectives but they keep asking where is the moon images lol, present In the world everyone is a science enthusiastic, like in my childhood idk anything about Apollo mission objectives but I saw the best moon image and Neil Armstrong so, right now children are seeing sh*tty image landing video I don't like it, speak reality bro don't supress it. And isro scientists are nerds don't know anything about social media and how social media changes the world it's a shame that people are posting ai moon landing image in Twitter

@@indian9632 I felt so sad when I check the comments on KZbin and Twitter when ch3 landed on moon, so many foreigners are saying it's a 3d cartoon and even many scientists also asking where is landing video, so many foreign scientists didn't believed that and I write so many comments like u did. Like old people says 1st impression is the best impression but we didn't give best impression on ch 3 landing

@@nighthawk4298 HD cameras are not new. They could have thrown a dozen of those if they could. I guess data link is slow so they don't want to exhaust it with gig bytes of HD video stream. We don't need to prove anything to anybody. Comparing to others and worrying about what others think about us are not good traits. Nailed the landing and hope experiments will help us to learn new things

I think next time around we should go towards the luna 2 route of having a nuclear core for the rover so that it can independently function without replying on solar or a 14 day window.

When the rover was rolling out, there was a crater/ditch on the right side where the rover was heading, the video footage just stopped before what was looking like the rover's right side/wheel going into the crater. Did anyone else also notice that? There is no footage of the rover after that.

The fact that temperature drops significantly as we go deeper is a very good news. It can facilitate storing the propellents made from the ice and needs to be stored at cryogeinc temperatures, which can be achieved by just going a few feet under the surface

The wheel arrangement is Rocker Boogie suspension. It enables all wheels are in contact with the ground at any given time and can maneuver rover inclination up to 45 degree.

USA spent 25$ Billion Dollars vs India spent 1.66$ Billion Dollars, I think the project managers in NASA will be furious as they had set a benchmark for next missions that you can spend less and still achieve much i-e landing on South Pole of Moon :)

If rover measures the temperature dependence on depth again next week, I think the slope will change due to heat conduction. Longer the sunlight falls on the surface, more heating, and more time to conduct the heat into the soil. It may lead to some idea of insulation of the moon regolith.

When will isro make a rover like NASA's perseverance mars rover it has a very high resolution camera I really don't like these types of Black and white images but as an Indian I am proud of it that we are watching these Black and white images from our Vikram lander JAI HIND 🇮🇳

It cost lot of money, preservance rover cost 2.4 billion dollar to make and operate. I think its not approriate for our country to invest that much on just one rover considering our priority on other important things..

Great info. 🙏 Could you please explain that ATTITUDE OFFSET in attitude holding phase, if not already explained. Edit: One more point, if the rover had struggled on the crater there would have been some rough mark on the left trace. Looks like it didn't even skid.

GS.. there's no doubt about your dedication and love for space science....just wanted to correct the surface temperature in graph is almost 60degC...and its same 10cm above. You mentioned 50degC. I am sure you would have heard scientific community and ISRO are surprised with this high temperature findings - where they were expecting anything around 20DegC. 👍

2:33 heard in Somnath sir in Buisness Today that data transmission speed is very low so they can't focus on photos. All they are focusing on is to get quality dat from InSitu experiments.. fun fact pragyan took photo of Vikram but image quality is bad due to poor lighting conditions

That’s for addressing the poor job by PR team. They didn’t circulate any single image, and then screen grabs of animation and AI generated images took over. Even for the foreign media, I saw comments where people are making fun of these images, as they are clearly AI generate/Animation. See this was crucial because people outside india are not aware of ISROs capabilities and it was sad to see PR didn’t do anything. It became really hard to explain it to others our countries achievements.

Excellent technical justification of using 1-2 mega pixel camera. People need to understand how in a complex system there is lot of dependency between sub-systems and tradeoffs have to be made.

Superb presentation! As you have access to ISRO, please tell them to release all the videos of the testing of various assemblies, assembling of the chandrayaan, integration with the rocket and so on! Why should these videos come through youtube channels?!!

@Gareeb Scientist, Dude first of all thank you a million for the data shown at 10:35. Throughout the vertical descent (from 800m to 0m), horizontal velocity was higher than expected (ideally should have been 0). And the person responsible for the telecast, did not show the data during the last 10 seconds of the landing and I was pissed off. So, I got to see what I wanted to see now. So thank you. Second of all, regarding the two hovers, both hovers were planned. One at 800m and another at 150m. ISRO had mentioned this somewhere. So I was aware of it and expecting it. So it wasn't unexpected. Also it is during the hover at 800m, it scanned the alternate landing spot in case of 'Re-Target'.

There was no full pure vertical descent like you imagine. Pure vertical descent happened at 150m. Before that it was resultant of both horizontal and vertical velocities

@@Ultrainstincte I'm not imagining. I have the graph published by ISRO detailing the 4 phases of the descent, where they have given the horizontal and vertical velocities for each phase. And the descent from 800m was supposed to be with no horizontal velocity according to the graph.

Dear GS, After seeing Vikram land on the moon surface and the no-failure approach with which ISRO approached the whole exercise, I feel that ISRO should be able to also land the booster rockets back on Earth the way Space X does it. Secondly, ISRO did experiment with a shuttle kind of re-entry and landing vehicle. If these two things work out then ISRO (in collaboration with a Private Entity) should plan on doing space tourism the way Bezos, Musk and Virgin Group is planning. Also probably Trans Continental flights like Sriharikota to NY in 3 hours can be planned for the future (I am sure the Chinese are also planning something like this). The thing is that these things can become huge markets in the future and we need to plan in advance to secure such revenue streams which can then be converted into funding sources for R&D as well as future space missions. What do you think? Is ISRO planning something like this?

One suggestion for you. I follow your video's a lot, you can sometimes use easy words or abbreviations sometimes so that it will be easier for someone to understand. Like my question will be Why there will be longer shadows on South pole? Make a playlist or videos where you teach Basic of space 🌌🚀. Even commerce students deserve to learn something ❤.

Imagine your shadow in the morning/evening versus your shadow in the afternoon. In the first case the shadow will be larger than the shadow that is formed when the Sun is directly overhead. In the case of the polar region (North and South poles) the sun is always on the horizon (like during dusk/dawn) so the shadow of an object is larger in polar regions.

They use the steerable high-gain antenna, which takes almost 2 days to communicate your response and also takes 2 days to reach, it takes lots of days or weeks to send a single image

I think ISRO should really work on their communications and data transfer architecture , We landed on the moon successfully and we cant even have one high megapixel image ? this is disappointing.

Isro could have used the concept of perseverance Mars rover which uses radio thermal activity to produce electricity as a result higher quality camera could be used in the rover. (as a complement)
