Not only persisting in the Final, but just making the playoffs with home ice in the first round. These two teams are A LOT more similar than most people have acknowledged (a long drought of basement dwelling and futility, replete with tons of top picks), but I honestly think the difference is HOW the Oilers and Panthers responded with those opportunities. Florida structured this team around defense and goaltending. Edmonton? Not so much. And I guarantee Florida still picks guys like McDavid and Draisatl, given the chance. But as a whole, they're a better team by NOT picking the best goal scorers and playmakers. It's the guys who have that grit, that desire to play defense, not just the ability to do so. The guys who break bones in their feet breaking shots and don't miss a shift. Florida's entire game is attack and suffocate the opponents chances to respond. And they did. Not all the time. Not consistently. But enough, and that's the difference it takes to win. By pushing into those plays and trusting you win more than you lose. You can go 16-12, usually not enough to make the playoffs, but enough to win a Cup. It's absolutely a new season, and this one will be just as important for Edmonton as the Panthers, once the smoke clears and Tuesday morning rolls around. Knoblauch likely gets at least 4 years in Edmonton out of this season. McDavid becomes a top paid player, or the Oilers win next season and then he becomes a top paid player. Florida isn't going anywhere either. They've been a top team for 3 years, and now they'll want more. The state of Florida is getting crazy for hockey, and I think their fan support this season has reflected that.

I will say we will know for certain how great this management is for Edmonton Oilers. This run was not in the Oilers' favor, but we made it beat all the odds. Management GM, 7 all the upper staff, know what is needed to fix the issues that brought us this year. We can make them better for 2024-2025. We know what to fix and add, too. That's it. Stay strong and be bent over for a couple of days, but then when July hits go right back, get the mentality back with it, ready to go from the start of next season

Real talk (as a Canadian who wasn't cheering for the Oilers) the parallels here are RIDICULOUS. Last year, Panthers go from out of the playoffs, counted out, given NO CHANCE, make the Finals and lose to a more complete team. Oilers, this year, go from out of the playoffs, counted out, given NO CHANCE, and lose to a more complete team. If you remember this, think about this, and carry a part of this forward, this can be you. If not next year, then soon. Draisatl was just another casualty of Florida's stifling defense and one of them, (Ekblad, one of Florida's 4 top 3 first round picks in 5 years, VERY similar to Edmonton) just happened to have good games when called upon. If those same parallels are to be noted and carried forward, those similar experiences and gracious moments of both poise and presence remain and persist, I firmly believe the Oilers can be that one game better next year.

Without Kris we don’t make it to game 7, this guy was a revelation from Nov 12 to June 24th. We will be back stronger. If we just won game 1 or 3 we would have won the series. Florida was fortunate to be up 3-0 and got 4 cracks at the cup and the thought of being the biggest embarrassment in sports was enough for them to win game 7 whereas our boys had no gas left. Sadly this series was truly a coin flip and came down to not winning one of those first 3 games. Next year we will be better with a new GM and a top 6 sniper and two solid d men

Didn’t get into a true shooting mentality until the final 5 minutes and almost tied it up because of it. Against a team that presses as hard as the Panthers do the puck movement has to be quicker and shots taken without playing with the puck.
