After being diagnosed with Stage 3 ovarian cancer during surgery on my left ovary back in June 2022, I decided to pursue treatment at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. I went through six rounds of chemotherapy (paclitaxel/carboplatin) and had two inconclusive biopsies (liver/lymph nodes). On January 16, 2023, I had a debulking surgery that included a laparotomy, hysterectomy, salpingo-oophorectomy, lymphadenectomy and an omentectomy. Today we are sharing more about the pathology results from my surgery.

You will still worry and get anxious with each follow up scan, but as you sail through each one & get the assurances again & again... Your mind will calm down & you will come to believe it. Yours has been an unusual case from the start & you & Brian did everything exactly right. You researched, you self advocated fiercely & you followed all instructions to the letter. Perfect❣ this is what I have wanted to say. There will come a day when you realize you are healed. Our son from the ages of 9 to 14 years had 6 surgeries, 32 months of chemo, 6 weeks of radiation. Every scan was a stressors. At 2 years post cancer God gave me scripture in Isaiah "behold I will do a new thing, will you not know it? It will spring forth in the midst of you" The new thing was no more tumors. PRAISE GOD Hallelujah❣ I am rejoicing with you. Blessings upon blessings. My husband and I are both 2 times cancer survivors. We are both 81 yo and been married 61 yo. PTL😇

No processed food and very little sugar. Boost her immune system with Vit C, D3, zinc, all import for immunity and healing. Herbs can be helpful too but that you would have to research as it can be very individual.

I’ve had cancer twice now, and what you’re feeling is normal. You’ve spent months in physical and mental turmoil. You’ve lived with the emotions of the constant threat to your life (cancer). That doesn’t just go away. Many of us cancer survivors/warriors have PTSD because of cancer and treatments and scans and all that goes with it. My chemo ended in 2019, and just last year I threw away my tote of “chemo stuff” ( beanies, otc meds, etc.) and I just started bawling when I threw it away. It should have been a good thing, but all of those feelings just came rushing back. We cancer survivors live having faced our mortality, and waiting for that other shoe to drop. I’m 23 years from my first diagnosis and 4 years from my second. It DOES get better emotionally. There WILL be days where you don’t even think about cancer. Give yourself grace. Hugs from one survivor to another.

The “cancer warrior” term has affected many MANY patients of cancer. Is like they are expected to fight a war while we watch… and don’t get me wrong, it is a fight, but you are not the warrior. You are a victim of this disease. And its not fair that people expect of cancer patients to be warriors, to be always optimistic and ready to fight… that’s not the reality of anyone going trough a disease like this. I hope Brian realizes he is such a huge part of Jessica’s successful treatments and recovery. His care, support, intelligent ability to learn as much medical information concerning Jessica is extremely impressive. I don’t know if the spouses and caregivers are aware how important their part is in helping their spouse survive cancer. I too have a Brian type of husband and he is my rock and reason I fought so hard to continue to survive and be together. Jessica be kind and gentle to yourself and expect the rollercoaster of emotions, you’ve been through extreme medical trauma and it takes awhile to acclimate to your new normal. You’ve lived in the cancer world for awhile and believe it or not sometimes it’s difficult to go back to normal life. I was diagnosed with metastatic stage 4 colorectal cancer which had metastasized to my liver and lymph nodes. There was cancer all on the right lobe of my liver so after chemo radiation, a colectomy, and an ileostomy bag placement I had a final scan just before going into surgery to have half my liver removed, my gallbladder , and 27 lymph nodes removed. The final scan looked nothing like the initial scan because the final scan showed no cancer at all. So I had to decide whether to continue with the liver lobectomy and was told if one cancer cell is left behind I would be in trouble. So I had half my liver removed along with gallbladder, and lymph nodes and my liver was biopsied which showed no cancer, but a few of my lymph nodes had cancer. The right lobe of my liver fully grew back healthy and I’ve been NED from stage 4 colorectal cancer for 8 years now. Do you know if they found cancer in any of your 57 lymph nodes that were removed and biopsied? I’m so happy for both you and Brian, you both have been through a hell of a journey! I wish you both peace, love, happiness, and health!! ❤

So rushed to surgery and when I was in recovery I was told that the mass was made of scar tissue from back surgery and c sections x3. Honestly, I felt guilty that there was no cancer(weird hugh!) just a weird cantaloupe sized mass of tissue that attached to my liver, and stomach. I know I had a large fellowship of prayer warriors which honestly kept me from the dark places we go when uncertainty takes over. You such a darling! Both of you. I think it makes a lot of sense you’re “not there yet.” You’re finally getting a moment to just pause and realize what’s happened. That alone is worth celebrating. The fact that you can cry is the celebration. You have been in pure survival mode and not able to take a second to really process how insane this has been for you. Thank you for being so real and just showing vulnerability and strength. You’re very loved by so many!!!

I remember finishing chemo & when I had the negative PET scan after, I refused to ring the bell. I, like you, was afraid to tempt fate. I felt & sometimes still feel like a live tiger was sitting in the room with me at all times. I felt like it was a trick. So all your emotions are very normal. You faced true mortal danger. I am a cancer survivor, I was in and out of treatment for three years and four surgeries. Your feelings and emotions are completely normal because cancer is hard on our emotions and bodies. It takes time for our minds and bodies to become calm after so much trauma. You will have regular scans and test from now on but you will get used to that. The important thing to remember is if anything shows up in the future it will be caught early and taken care of. I send you peace and calmness.

Sweetheart you have every right to feel whatever you feel. As a cancer survivor I can tell you it is a hell of a ride. I’m 5 years out and I still have super anxiety whenever I have to go back for my check up. You just hold your breath and then praise the a Lord when you are still ok. For quite a while you will feel very freaked out with every lump, bump, bruise and funny feeling. It does get easier as more time goes by. You just take your time and process thing how it works for you love. It is also not unusual to feel sort of melancholy when treatment ends like you don’t really know what to do with yourself. I also had a “clean” report after hysterectomy and chemo- and then came the hard part of fearing the cancer would come back. CA-125 blood tests and physical exam every three months for a year - and then continued exams and CA-125 labs test for next 10 years. For me, the most important thing is not to suppress or shut down any feelings. No should or shouldn’ts when it comes to feelings. Let the feelings come and GO OUT OF YOUR BODY. ❤

Congratulations! All the struggles have been worth it! It is well known that a large majority of people who have gone through the cancer battle suffer from PTSD once they have finished active treatment. You have been fighting for your life, and you won. It’s difficult to have it sink in that you beat this cancer and don’t have to worry 24 hours seven days a week and look for trouble in case someone missed it. Extremely overwhelming, and totally understandable. Give it time. Take a breather. Exhale. You will get through this, too.

Well shucks now I'm crying too! Having raised a very poorly child (now 6'4" karate black belt) I know very well how holding it togther during the scary bits is the 'easy' part and then when you get an all clear the relief hits like a tidal wave and you can't believe it's real. Plus you feel awful for anyone else going through the same thing, especially when their outcome may be different. Survivor guilt (even by by proxy) is real, fear of the thing coming back is real, fear that someone will take away this hope is real. You're not the same person after this experience, I still need to hear from my son once a day, (just a text), he's ok or I can't sleep, fortunately he gets it and doesn't think I'm mad! As someone else said, your video (s) are far more real, and meanigful, than any confetti ones. Thankyou so much for sharing.

I’m very proud of both of you. Your dedication to one another and love is heartwarming. Moreover, I think the doctors are literally blown away in that Jessica’s and Brian’s determination to work the plant-based diet, has paid off. Was the surgery necessary? Yes on account of the nagging fear of the reports from the doctors would make anyone fear and want to have the surgery. All the lymph nodes, tested one after another: cancer-FREE! So many people have been praying for you both and me included. Jessica, you’re alive despite all that has been thrown at you. When I read the Bible, always Psalm 91 is recommended to all of us. So you don’t have to look it up, I am pasting it here for you. Psalm 91[a] 91 As for you, the one who lives in the shelter of the Most High, and resides in the protective shadow of the Sovereign One - 2 I say this about the Lord, my shelter and my stronghold, my God in whom I trust- 3 he will certainly rescue you from the snare of the hunter and from the destructive plague. 4 He will shelter you with his wings; you will find safety under his wings. His faithfulness is like a shield or a protective wall. 5 You need not fear the terrors of the night, the arrow that flies by day, 6 the plague that stalks in the darkness, or the disease that ravages at noon. 7 Though a thousand may fall beside you, and a multitude on your right side, it will not reach you. 8 Certainly you will see it with your very own eyes- you will see the wicked paid back. 9 For you have taken refuge in the Lord, my shelter, the Most High. 10 No harm will overtake[n] you; no illness will come near your home. 11 For he will order his angels to protect you in all you do. 12 They will lift you up in their hands, so you will not slip and fall on a stone. 13 You will subdue a lion and a snake; you will trample underfoot a young lion and a serpent. 14 The Lord says, “Because he is devoted to me, I will deliver him; I will protect him because he is loyal to me. 15 When he calls out to me, I will answer him. I will be with him when he is in trouble; I will rescue him and bring him honor. 16 I will satisfy him with long life, and will let him see my salvation.” New English Translation Certainly with prayers going up for you both, that the God of Heaven, Maker of Heaven and Earth knows all about you. You shall get over the nerve pain and see your hair is growling back. It is the sign or new life even as the trees are all in bloom. Be blessed and know that God holds you in the hollow of His Hands. Brian, God will honor what you spoke that Jessica will yet live a long life.

Jessica, you and Brian have been through SO MUCH. How COULD you trust that these results are true after what you had been so emphatically told was metastasized? Give yourself all the grace you need and place your trust in Jesus that He has made it so that there is no more cancer.there’s another verse in the Bible in Matthew that says, “Who of you to worry can add a single hour in a day?” Give yourself permission to believe you are healed and that worrying about what is to come in May will not change the outcome. Just take one day at a time, and find something beautiful about each day. Your mirror is living proof! Because I have had an 8 1/2 hour surgery and the severe nerve pain you are experiencing, without all the detail. I was blessed to be told about Nature’s Bounty Super B Complex vitamins. My nerve pain substantially subsided after taking it for about 10 days. It may take less or more for you so be patient. I took 2 a day for the first three months and then 1 a day after that. If you forget to take them, your nerves will remind you. These vitamins are specific to nerve health and I have found that this brand far outweighs any other is giving the best results. Not all brands are alike. Read the labels and you’ll see what I mean. It was an absolute Godsend to being able to eliminate my nerve pain. I wish you and Brian a renewed sense of joy. You both deserve it! ❤
