Bummer for sure. My 2 cents worth - I wouldn't bother with OA with that much brood in the box and go to Formic Pro or Apivar. At least down south there you still have some time to deal with the mites. It looks like here in MN we are in for some very cool weather for awhile. Yuk. Go get them Randall and thanks for being open on the mite problems. I'll look forward to your course of action.

that is not good news. I am using OA extended release strips, they are in all the time. when they get dry I replace them. it is all I have used this year, and my august check showed most under 1 %. my high count was 4%. you might think about trying them after you get control

Hello Randall.so sorry BUT I am in the same boat ( bee hive ) you are . I think I told you before I tried the Apiguard this year also AND was NOT happy with it. I started over treating with OAV . I have not done a mite checks yet at this time I am going on my fifth treatment when the SF in comes up . I have just been using my screen bottom boards inserts to check till I get them down. Each time I did a OAV treatment the insert was covered with mites but I am getting them DOWN NOW . I have been doing the treatment every five days . I think yes OA does work BUT it takes time . I hope the best for you . Nothing bad on you but now I see Apiguard did not work. Let me know how it is going on yours treatment an what you end up using. THANKS

In previous 2 years of using apiguard in early august it worked great for me. Skipping weeks like I did this year is not going to work for me. Thank you.

Possibly, I did not get my summer treatment done in a timely manner and correctly. In years past I have had great success with apiguard so I am confident that I (the beekeeper) was the issue.
