Really nice version of the 675. The early postwar prior to 1950 are some of the best detailed nicest running models made. The 675, 2025, and 2035 were supposed to be Lionels attempt at a K4 Pacific as noted by the square Belpare firebox but they gave the 675 and 2025 the wheel arrangement of a Prairie. Oddly enough when they reintroduced that same K4 boiler shell in the 50's they gave it the wheel arrangement of an Adriatic. It wasn't untill the MPC era that Lionel introduced its first ever Pacific model with the Fallen Flags Wabash set in 1986 that was caught up in the transition between Fundimensions and LTI modern eras. So your 675 is supposed to be a Pennsylvania style K4 Pacific. Lionel just gave it the wheel arrangement of a Prairie.

Funny how things play out over time and the decisions Lionel has made over the years. Some were awesome and some were absolutely awful. I am enjoying my 675 for sure and it’s a very strong runner. Can’t beat the quality and workmanship in the steam engines of the 1940’s and 1950’s. Thank you for the history on the production of the 675 and how it evolved into different engines over the years.👍🙏🙏🙏

Absolutely. I purchased this one off of eBay. The gentleman reconditioned the engine. It looks almost brand new. He did an outstanding job and I am very happy. Thanks for commenting and watching. A Lionel Turbine Post War 1950 Era will make its appearance soon. 🙏🔥❤️💪🇺🇸👍

Those turbines are one of my favorite steam locomotives. I don’t have one. But it’s on my bucket list. Unfortunately I have too many hobbies. lol. 😆 🚂

@ I had many hobbies in the past. I had to toss them all and focus on model trains. Had to pick one, not enough cash for multiple. 🤪🤪

Nice video! Post war is what got me started in O scale. I revived my parents train sets and now have a 4x8 layout to run them on.

OUTSTANDING! There is just something about post war that says model trains. Maybe its because I am 60 years old and things from the past are nostalgic to me. They were just built so strong and with quality back in the day.👍🙏 That’s so cool you have trains from when your parents were young. Keep them for sure🙏

@ I’m 57 and have been HO scale since I was young. Mom would set up the Lionel trains under the tree each year so that’s what struck my interest in model trains. I got an HO set as a Christmas gift and started with that. My parents have both passed and I finally got the Lionel trains out of the storage box and started the process of repairing and running them again.

@ so cool and the memories they must bring back . I had HO and N. I selected O roughly two years ago because it was the first model train set I got back in the 1970’s. I believe an MPC era 027 set which is long gone.

There is a guy named Jack who double heads those postwar steamers, made couplers for the front. Thats a nice 675, Bob!

Cool and Thank You. I actually swore off steam era trains, but rethought that decision and decided that post war was going to be the steam era engines I purchase. There is just something about a 70 year old Lionel Engine.

@RABSTRAINS look at my past videos of railsounds boxcars with steam sounds. I use them with all my postwar steam engines, it helps.

The whistle needs a certain amount of track voltage to work well, as you have found out. I think that a track side building with a whistle unit built in is a better solution myself. You could blow it with a control panel push button switch.
