Definately the nicest engine I’ve seen here.😊 Gotta love the simplistic all mechanical, no electronics, vintage stuff. 😊

Thank You. That is totally what I like. An engine that is built tough and not complicated, Basic!👍👍🙏❤️🔥💪🇺🇸

Sparks are normal with the postwar locomotives Bob. I have almost 20 turbines in my collection. Turbines are my favorite! Congratulations on getting the turbine!

So majestic, so sleek, so singular! The smoothed profile, the chunky build, the way the side rods churn as it speeds along... this engine is a work of art and looks every bit as powerful as it must be in real life. And the funniest part is... most of us probably wouldn't know this engine (A failed experimental prototype) even existed if Lionel hadn't latched onto the design and immortalized it with this gem. I'm gonna want at least one postwar turbine some day, as well as the larger, more accurate late 20th-century version.

Can't beat the nostalgia the postwar models bring to your layout. Have fun collecting them all.

Ha, Ha. We will see on collecting them all. Hmmm, that’s an idea🤪🤪. My wife would not we so happy. She actually likes the whistles and smoke from the post war engines. She came down and controlled the train and pushed the whistle button. She also said she likes the smoke smell. I have the hickory wood scented smoke fluid. So yes, there will be more post war items to come👍👍🔥

I dont own any post war locos but I've been in the market for a 685 (the Santa fe type Hudson) just for the nostalgic sounds and smells. I grew up running my dads and Grandpop's post war trains, including the nice 681/671 turbines you got here. Really neat Bob!

I am loving the post war engines. I just posted a video link under my community page. It’s a video from a guy posted 2 years ago, but an awesome video on a few engines including the 681 and how to clean them. I just used his video and followed it exactly. 👍🙏🔥🇺🇸💪❤️

Looks great ! I have a 671 from the original Lionel Electronics set from 1947. I restored it and converted the smoke unit from pellet to liquid. It's one of my favorite post war Lionels next to the F7 Santa Fe War Bonnet and the PRR GG1. Love your layout too!

Thank You Sooo Much. Love post war for sure. Just received a f3 Texas Special A/B Units. Engine has a single motor. Will give it a service and run it soon, it has some paint missing in some areas but pretty good shape for a 1950’s model. Ordered two Rail King Passenger cars for it. Would love to have all aluminum cars, but they are expensive. I would like at least four/five cars for the consist.

That thing runs good, and smokes even better😂

Absolutely. I watched a video on how to service it. I did the servicing after I shot the run video. The short video I did was after the servicing. Awesome Engine!👍👍🔥💪

Nice run Rab man, I have two 681s but one has a worn puffing cam on the axle. They are great smoking and running locomotives.

Totally. I just watched a video which I posted in my KZbin community section on how to clean the 681. It’s not my video but from another guy. Just did it and she is running strong and fast!👍🙏🔥💪❤️
