My wedding was almost 37 years ago so the things I remember are good and sweet. If I could go back with all the info there is now about planning a wedding I would love a second go around because there is so many more cool ideas now. That being said it is actually my daughters wedding that upsets me. The minister, mentor to the groom was very unprepared. The photographer arrived a couple hours late which made the dayfeel rushed. The two photos I really wanted, 1 of me and my daughter sharing a moment and 1 of an embroidered ribbon I has sown into the hem of her dress he forgot to take. The photos after the ceremony took forever and everyone was hungry and I had to go ask I we could speed it up. Even though we had hired a planner everyone came to me with questions and their needs. I didn’t get to relax and enjoy the evening. Plus I had fallen and broken a rib just the day before. I was wrapped with an ace bandage and so sore. Anyways, my daughter thinks the day was wonderful and I’m so happy for that but my heart, even 12 years later is still hurting that I never got a photo with my daughter and I on her special day. The photographer took plenty of photos of her and her dad sharing special moments but I was forgotten. She is my only daughter and that day can never be relived.

Ugh I’m sorry you didn’t get your special photo! My mom has passed so I feel this so deeply. I know you have hundreds of pictures together that you treasure, but it’s so normal to want that special one. I’m glad she had a wonderful day ❤

Oh, gosh, I feel for the OP. We had minor things happen, ring bearer went at the wrong time, one flower girl fell, both wandered trying to find their parents. They were just kids, no big deal. My brother was thinking one song was taking too long, gave the singer the “time out” signal. All in all, things that happen aren’t a big deal, they just add character to the day!

We had a few issues with our coordinator and venue, the only ones that actually had an impact on us and our guests were the tables were numbered incorrectly so no-one was sitting where we had planned and some of the rooms (including the bridal suite) didn't have hot water. Other than that, we had a wonderful time and the important part was to spend the time with those special to us

August Thunderstorm knocked power out at our venue. Candle light reception with soloists from ceremony playing piano & singing so we could do all the dances. This was 1990 so no real backup options for the DJ. We paid him not to play a single song. We’ve been married almost 34 years and people still say they remember our wedding- I’ll bet they do😂 I followed Jamie while we were planning my daughter’s wedding. Needless to say, we picked a wedding venue that had a backup generator- just in case. She also had a memorable wedding for other reasons…..lightsabers and wind! 🤷‍♀️ In both cases, we did the best we could, two people got married, and we had some fun doing it.

I’m having a mini wedding (under 18 people) and certain family members are pissed that there won’t be more people. And one person in particular keeps saying I shouldn’t do wedding related stuff like save the dates, flowers, etc. because she’s mad.

I used a playlist for our day. I had it set up to play continuously. I had slow songs, country songs, fun songs all carefully placed. Some teens kidnapped the play list and started playing songs at will. The guests were cliquie and, since no country songs were played, THEY LEFT. It was an outdoor wedding and reception and they all went to do their own thing. It hurt, but we kept dancing and celebrating with the ones that stayed. Yes, I told the teens to just let it play, but their dad owned the equipment, and they continued. We still had a ball, and that's all that mattered. It was OUR party, not theirs.❤

I am most nervous about how nervous I will be at my wedding lol! I'm trying to remember that people who always seem to be grumpy will probably be grumpy about everything regardless, but the people who are reasonable will make the best out of any situation because they want us to have a great experience, too.

Also thank you Jamie for not leaning into the toxic positivity side of the advice. People can be disappointed and sad! It matters more about how we process it, and feeling that way is often part of the process - not always "dwelling" on it unnecessarily.

When my kids got married, I told them "Things ARE going to go wrong. It won't be perfect. But it's the things that go wrong that usually become the stories you tell about your wedding 10 years from now and laugh about. So, to the best of your ability, try not to stress out about it when it happens. Just look at it and say to yourself 'that's going to be a funny story a couple years from now'...and maybe you can let it go and enjoy your day."

I feel for the OP! We had small things happen that I wish I could change and my mind fixated on that for the weeks after. My dress- I got a strapless dress, first wrong move...during my last fitting it fit perfectly but then 2 weeks later I stress lost weight and it was too big. I felt like my dress was falling down the whole night. My bridesmaid was the MVP and remembered I had a jean jacket in the bridal suite and she got that for me to put on that simple thing changed my whole mood for the evening. ONCE YOU ENTER THE RECEPTION DON'T LEAVE YOUR HUSBAND/WIFE'S SIDE. - After dinner I got pulled one way my husband got pulled the other and I felt like I didn't see him the whole evening!! Lastly, be super specific with the photos you want. I didn't get the photos with my bridesmaids that I wanted our photographer only did one location outside after the ceremony with us and only did a big group photo with my bridesmaids. Which bummed me out.

Thank you so much for this content! I am currently working, going to grad school and planning a wedding that will happen in 8 months. I can’t really focus on wedding planning until May after I graduate and I am just so anxious about ✨everything✨. Most of the time I just say it is not a today problem. I can’t wait to join the master plan in May!

Something to note just on a physical level, there's something known as a "serotonin drop" that happens after big exciting events. Our bodies can only make so many hormones within a certain amount of time, if we have a big event (like a wedding or vacation) and we really enjoy it (even if there's some parts we didn't, but we enjoy it over all) our bodies literally need time to produce our normal levels of "happy" hormones and so because we don't have our normal levels, we "crash". This can manifest as anxiety, exhaustion, questioning if you even enjoyed any of it, asking yourself if it was worth it, all that fun stuff. Depending on the person this dip can last a day to a week, so give yourself some grace after it, you're probably physically unable to know how much you enjoyed an event for a short amount of time and that's okay and so so normal. Also to note, if you suffer from depression that rebound can take longer, even if you're on medication that works for you. It doesn't always but it can

MINE IS HUGELY DIFFERENT Hey 6 year anniversary is this month. Mine thing that makes me frustrated the most looking back is something a bit different than any others on here. My dad died when I was 3 my mom married again which was the only man I knew as dad. Fast forward threw a divorce, he remarried and another daughter he disowned me and my sisters for 20 years!! Then shows up when my sister has a grand baby . We all tried to move forward and forgive. Years go by I’m 34 years old I invited him and family to my wedding . He thought he was giving me away. My mom told him he is not BUT!!! It gets worse. at my rehearsal dinner. I found out that him , HIS WIFE AND MOM planned to walk in as family before I walk down the isle!! My mom says to me as I’m in line we don’t have enough boutonnières and I was confused. Then tells me I look up and there they are in line ready for rehearse walking in with the music. I froze in shock. What do I say ? what do I do? I have my ministry friends and family there. Children I take care of in my wedding. I cannot react and cause a scene. So I made the choice to not say anything but now in my wedding video I have my ex stepdad, his wife and his mother ( which never treated me like a granddaughter in all 13 years of there marriage) walking down the isle. It was the worst mistake that I made when I didn’t say anything. See I told you is big different than most.

Hi! I don’t know where your faith is placed, but if you are a Christian, I encourage you to do more research about how the enneagram was formed. It does not have holy origins. I’m glad it helped your couple, but perhaps you should be more mindful about introducing this to your household. (Coming from a humble place)

Change, good or bad, is always stressful. That workbook called 30 Days to Reduce Anxiety by Harper Daniels was helpful. Mindfulness is my go to.
