What is my perfect crime? I break into Tiffany's at midnight. Do I go for the vault? No, I go for the chandelier. It's priceless. As I'm taking it down, a woman catches me. She tells me to stop. It's her father's business. She's Tiffany. I say no. We make love all night. In the morning the cops come and I escape in one of their uniforms. I tell her to meet me in Mexico but I go to Canada. I don't trust her. Besides, I like the cold. Thirty years later, I get a postcard. I have a son and he's the chief of police. This is where the story gets interesting: I tell Tiffany to meet me in Paris, by the Trocadero. She's been waiting for me all these years; she's never taken another lover. I don't care, I don't show up. I go to Berlin. That's where I stashed the chandelier. - dwight schrute, the office

True. But only because the song was not garbage in the first place. The lyrics finally had a chance to stood out for themselves and the band made them stand out. With the original pop version, so much potential of this song was buried, but the producers wanted it like that. We can consider ourselves lucky to have witnessed THIS OUTSTANDING version of the song. I would like to know what Britney thinks of the arrangement itself as well as the performance of Melinda. I really love this version, while being indifferent to the original.

Imagine this: it starts out a James bond movie, but when bond get's held up my an important lady, his supposed love interests has to preform the heist alone. Not using her charm to fool the guards, but exuding so much confidence she just walks by them. This song plays and cuts between her putting on perfect black gloves and taking the valuable item and the woman bond is with leading him onto the dance floor in a wood brown and gold room full of socialites in headresses. All bisexuals die immediately.

Yeah. I’m trying to work out why it’s so effective. I think because it’s not as predictable. The singer is caught between submitting to the forward march of the music and losing her capacity to submit to it.
@gynack
@gynack 5 жыл бұрын
@@laurahoughton1289 Could it just possibly partly due to the fact that Melinda Doolittle has a far better voice, and is a far superior singer to Britney? Then there is also the PMJ arrangement which is far more varied than Britney's, and there's such a good match between voice and instrumental backing arrangement? In other words, it's far better if you think consider sheer musicality.

@@obsidian8180 If you like thudding drums, strange distortion and other Dance features. Were these features particularly original to Britney's version or were they common features of that time and genre? You could well argue that it shows quite a lot of originality on the part of both PMJ and Melinda to take a track like Britney's Toxic and completely transform it, both the backing and the vocals. The PMJ version of Radiohead's Creep sung by Haley Reinhart is probably the best-known and most popular of them all. She also sings Britney's Oops I Did It Again with them.
