Left and right side posterior segments of upper lobes are not drained in one position
@physicaltherapyeducationso45852 жыл бұрын
As with many aspects of medical training, it is possible to have differing opinions in different reference materials. The primary reference used for supporting the information in the videos is "The Essentials of Cardiopulmonary Physical Therapy". I have seen in other references where the posterior segments for the left and right are drained in different positions, so in general you are correct, however we have chosen to base our information on the most frequently used reference text in the U.S. We appreciate your attention to detail and for providing your point of view about our video. Thank you for watching.

Is this help in Losse in coughing?
@physicaltherapyeducationso45856 ай бұрын
This technique can be helpful to loosen congestion, which then must be expelled with a cough. We hope that answers your question. Thanks for watching our videos.

My confusion is that you see some books use both the 30 degrees recline and forward lean for Apical segment drainage
@physicaltherapyeducationso45853 жыл бұрын
The references we based our information on (found at the end of the video) were in agreement on a backward lean for the apical segment. If you have a specific reference that describes a forward lean we would be happy to review it to determine how they came to that conclusion. Also, thank you for watching our videos, we appreciate the support and hope the information is helpful.

force of percussion should come from your wrist only
@physicaltherapyeducationso4585 Жыл бұрын
In many cases cupping/percussing may be done for several minutes, especially if more than one segment is to be treated. Using only the wrist will lead to rapid fatigue for the therapist. The way to prevent this is to also engage the larger muscles of the upper extremity including at the elbow and shoulder. The most important component is the proper shape of the hand where it contacts the patient's torso.
