A meta deck can brick and have 4 hand traps in hand and 1 pot of prosperity as the 5th card, but guess what? They then can search the next 6 cards of the top of their deck for the 1 card starter.

Extrav and Prospy are nice in Nemleria. Also, the start of MP1 clause mainly makes sense with random banishing since you can't filter you Extra Deck beforehand.

It is required because decks are already hitting near max consistency for engine, but NON ENGINE is not consistent enough at all. The utility of non engine Prosperity gives > utility of making decks a bit more consistent

I don’t disagree with this point, I just think this card should have been tuned for going second more than going first if it was merely to find non engine. It seems much more likely that it was made to find one card combos and to sell blazing vortex or whatever that set was called

Its a really good card, but i like good cards. A bunch of decks can use it, so its not unfair. Its ok to have strong cards that bring variance into the game. Ive been having fun against bots w/ custom rules where turn 2 player draws three cards. I think something like this, or where turn 2 player draws per face up card of other player does a lot to balance the game.

The 1 Normal Summon is the resource of this game. In MTG you can just play infinity creatures if you have the mana. In YGO you can't. Except Special Summons are way too prevalent for this to really limit a player's turn. Essentially it's as if magic was full of mana cheat and effects that put creatures into play. I personally really enjoy this, but it's not very important whether I like it or not if we are discussing balance or game design

Calling the 1 Normal Summon YGO's resource system is really weak. The difference btween the 1 Normal Summon and a resource system like Mana is that Mana is like money, the "resource system" of the real world, if you will. Pretty much everything costs money, so you need to trade money for items. On the other hand, only able to Normal Summon once is like your dad telling you that you can only spend 3 dollars. I wouldn't call that a resource system. The 1 Normal Summon is more akin to the Grade rule in Cardfight Vanguard, where you can't call a rearguard that has a higher grade than your vanguard (not that I Know if this is still true. Played vanguard years ago but dropped it naturally over time)

@@goldenpersonwhoexists8834 are 1 energy per turn, 1 evolution per pokemon per turn resources? i'd say yes. just like mana you spend them to do something, they are finite and dictate which actions you can do every turn. mana is the same, only instead of saing you can do "x" "y" times per turn it says you can only do "x" things that put togheter cost "y". tribute summons were meant to be a version of paying 8 mana for a big ass creature.

@@unaffectedbycardeffects9152 Energy in pokemon is a resource, but how many times you can play an energy card is not. That's just a limitation and nothing more. You spend the energy, yes, not the concept of only being able to create 1 energy per turn. Same with evolution. Saying the 1 Normal Summon is a resource system is like saying the Deck is a resource system because technically, you are spending cards in your Deck for cards in your hand or in your GY. If that's what people meant by "resource system", there would be no discussion on whether games have one or not, because all card games have a deck.

Crazy how Extrav had its detractors as it was once a really expensive and powerful relative to power levels of the decks at time. Pot of Prospies is Pot of Duality on meth. The latter had that SS lockout for the player who digged for 3. Prospies needed a hefty restriction like that for the risky bargin you are making. When i read the card now, i see no drawbacks, which digs harder than an Adamancipator player on a good day lol Sub'd and liked dude. Enjoyed the video.
