....Shoshana.....8 yrs you have been at this.....wow.....I loved this video.....what a great example of... " its the grower that grows the plant, not the media".....you have a wonderful collection.....and they all are so healthy and beautiful....you also provide a lot of information while you work........so happy to have found your channel....keep up the great work!

@rickl.orchids... sir, you are such a an inspiration to me. You taught me so much about the feeding process and your way of growing, especially media choices, have helped me make the bold moves in my own collection to have them grow. I can't believe l get to continue to learn from you! Thank you so VERY much🥹

What a wonderful idea! I have to try this with a vanda rescue I have that came to me in regular potting mix, very dehydrated and infested with scale. I unpotted it, removed the dead roots, and treated it for the scale that is gone now. It has only a few roots left, lost several bottom leaves, and is still somewhat dehydrated, but it's alive. I have it in a 10" pool skimmer basket, soak the roots every other day, mist it daily, and have it next to my humidifier, but I live in a desert area. The remaining roots are still alive, but I haven't seen any new root growth yet. I would love to be able to keep more moisture around the roots without keeping them wet and give it something to support it in the basket. I think this might just be the perfect solution!

Ahhh this will work swimmingly for you!!! I have several friends in dry areas that have tried the pool noodles/ basket liner method and had Greta root growth success!!! Personally l have to do it because of very dry air all the time. Good luck, friend!!! 💗

Very interesting video! You have been doing this for some time then? 8 years? To water do you just pour water through or do you soak the pot in water for a period of time. How do the roots look when you take the plant out of the pot. I guess they must grow well if you have been doing this for that long. I’d certainly give this a try. Now just need to find a pool noodle. Good thing summer is on the way. Should not be too hard. Will subscribe by the way. 😊

Hello! If you check a few videos back l showed the entire watering process. I have also dragged one of the potted vandas out of its pot to show the roots in a video as well... ( That video is called Root Check). Pool Noodles are surprisingly in the Dollar stores. Some Walmarts and at a store chain called Big Lots. They may be elsewhere too but that's where l have seen them most. Thanks so much for watching! ❤️

The use of the pool noodle is interesting. I mean if its easy to disinfect and reuse them its good. My issue has always been that use of styrofoam as potting media...urrgghh...its so bad. The styrofoam chunks can't be recycled.

@@OnceuponanOrchid l definitely feel you. But the other good thing is...wash, disinfect and reuse if needed! They work well at the bottom of my potted roses too!

Miss Lou - why you shooting vertical and not horizontal? Otherwise thanks - just what I need since I just got my new and only Vanda.

@Emilio-sq6gb hhehehehe l know. Some days l literally hurry to do it....my kiddos get in the way! Please pardon me. Heck...the day l posted my profile Pic in a hurry....l realized it was horizontal and not vertical😆. Humans fail sometimes... GOOD LUCK on the vanda my friend. You'll do great!

It baffles me that you would force vanda roots in a pot. Thst is not the best way to grow vandas.

Thank you kindly for watching! I no longer live in my home country in the islands nor in Florida where the climate permits better vanda culture so l do WHAT WORKS FOR ME In my current climate! As you can see.... There are many ways to do the same thing... Some better than others . Enjoy your day☺️
