@@7hoopdawg hey Tim!! My mom did the same thing as we were growing up snd then over the years, I had been trying to get her recipes and over the last year or so, her potato soup recipe was one I’ve been having a craving for but I kept forgetting to ask her for the recipe and I’m may she got her vaccine and a week after she had the second dose she went downhill over night. She lost her battle to what was supposed to protect her June 28th and we laid her to rest July 3rd. I never did get my tater soup recipe or her cabbage rolls recipe that was the best in the world, and I’m sure there’s more that will pop up as time goes and it’s just me that I’m cooking for so this is perfect for me. This recipe looks a lot like what mom made, but i think her recipe was milk based, not water, I swear she used milk which is probly why I’ve never found a bowl of tater soup that ever remotely tasted as good as hers. I’ll try this recipe but swap milk for the water and see what I get, never know buddy! I’m just north of ya a bit up here in NC. I can’t wait to try this recipe, I’ve been wanting a bowl of moms tater soup for a good while now! Take care my friend and be safe out there!

My grandma made "depression soup" which my siblings and I just loved on a cold winters night. Grandma used her leftover bacon grease as the base. She fried up her onions in the grease first. Then she added her potatoes and water. At the end she put cooked elbow macaroni to stretch the soup and thicken it up. It is fun to make the old recipes and they're so comforting during difficult times. God bless each of you and God bless America.
