Agree about America but disagree about the camera. I love faceless voices. Many youtubers and podcasts I have no idea how the person looks like, and it always makes it worse to have a face attached to voice when you listen to something.

Hey Pomme de Terre! I would really like to see you tackle something like Immortal difficulty on Epic speed. I usually play on Normal speed and checked what the differences would be. I know it may not be YT viewership friendly but it drastically changes the tempo of the game. If not on YT, try it on your own time. Lotsa fun to be had. Keep the content coming!
@PotatoMcWhiskey5 жыл бұрын
The only real difference Epic speed makes is amplifying the AI's early game advantage, while amplifying the players long term advantage and making the game longer and more tedious.

"Who owns this tile?" I didn't quite finish your whole bit of confusion. But mousing over the tile says the Civ (City) which owns it. The owner was indeed Chengdu as you'd concluded. WHY Chengdu owns it, I'm not sure but it is very boxed and generating a lot of Culture in so its tile acquisition via culture going out that far isn't that weird. So if Chengdu bought it via Culture because your cities and France's cities are all boxed in very tightly, that's on you not the Civ devs. ;p
@PotatoMcWhiskey5 жыл бұрын
My point is the city shouldn't own it if it if can't work it and another city can. Its easy to miss and hurts the player and AI.
@jaeusa1605 жыл бұрын
@@PotatoMcWhiskey Not sure how you'd fix this specific interaction. Chengdu was just culture-expanding, saw its options were: Empty water tile out west, flat land by river or hill by river to the east, and chose the hill by the river. It's just not sophisticated enough to account for your other close by city wanting the title in its future as well. And, of course, I think we're all better off with the Civ AI not swapping tile ownerships on its own... On the plus side, since you saw it, you could then work the tile without having to buy it in the smaller city. Whereas if the culture purchase skipped that tile, you wouldn't even own it to swap, not until the smaller city picked it up. It's annoying that the player has to notice this manually, but I think "taking the best tiles" is probably the best logic they could use for city culture purchases.

As someone who is interested in modding I oh so wish I had access to more core routines for the Ai. Least explicitly when it comes to Military Logic. What I fear happens is the Ai simply gets a Go-No Go from the higher Ai when its troops are lined up along the border and it has "enough" military combat strength to match or exceed yours by some %. The crux of the issue is that once the Ai gives the over the walls command all the units cross into your territory and then each individual unit is ordered individual based on a simple flowchart. Something along the lines of Can I make a move (Toward a target)? Can I Attack at that spot? Can I inflict some % of damage? Will I be in danger? The issue is that all that happens is the units shift around, usually deeper into your territory and only attack targets that they can hurt enough. If you are fortified or defensively turtle up the unit knows it cant win a drawn-out fight so it simply moves to a "safe" tile. Except it is from its target NOT any other dangers on the map. And for god knows whatever reason it doses not have a goal to take territory. There needs to be a mid-level Ai that assesses objectives. I need to ask, What city boarder my Civ? Which city has the most value to take? Just add up the score value of all the buildings, tiles and improvements in that city's influence. Then it asks which of these city's is the most valuable that I can take given my military strength in the area? What is the City Center Strength and dose my local Combat strength equal 150% of that? Then once it decides it CAN take a city pass it up to the diplomacy Ai at single that it can start the war. The Key is that once ONE city is decided to be the target all units within X tiles of that City's border need to focus on attacking the city center. The new individual Ai should flow like What units are in the assigned group? What units have the most strength? (Move first) >> >A| |B| Can I move toward an enemy Unit? Can I move to the City Center? Attack! |A> Am I under half strength? Is the tile I moved from free? Move! If not then is my Assigned Group Over Half Strength? Yes, Fortify No >B| Like I said as a modder I dont have access to the part of the Unit Ai that asks these question.
