Today we are looking at the best tier 9 ships imo. These ships are the best choice for winning games in the current silver-ranked season. Obviously you can do well in any ship, but these are my favorites.

About anti musashi folks, I laughed so hard when I heard what they say... Yes Musashi is worse Yamato (tho armor, handling, and consumable wise, musashi actually better rn)... but they forgot 1 crucial thing... Musashi is 1 f*cking tier lower and can even enjoy bullying t7... Also when u think for example JB, same tier with almost 30k less HP and covered by 32 mm, musashi just eats them for breakfast, lunch, & dinner that it's not even funny

That happened to me, i admit. Than i played some t9 ranked just after Musashi had gone, and i understood, as i faced 3 Musashies in my Georgia. One was on my flank, facing me, one on my right in the middle of the map, and one next him. They controlled every movement in front of them. Yeah, in retrospect i should have bought her, especially for ranked

I did it too. I'm not a BB player and only had the Amagi what was my highest BB that time. Everyone said what you wrote, so i'm not bought it, and Now i'm really mad myself. However lots of players sad Smaland is not a good ship and not worth the 2 million free exp. I bought it and it's my favourite ship in the game. It's a beast.

@@matty_mccarthyAny BB can get focused and burned to the waterline, unless they stay at the back of the map sniping all game, and even then a couple long range HE spammers like Des Moines can ruin your day. A select few (RN with super heal, Russians with thick deck armor) can handle it better than others, but a BB is always much better when escorted. Either the enemy has more targets to shoot at, or if they're focusing you, your teammates are shredding them with impunity.

Yes it does, normally T7 get terrible mm against 9s. But, they are huge fun to play against other T7s. Ranges are lower, so it's less campy and you only see tier 6 CVS. T7 ranked is the best game mode right now.

My thoughts after using Friesland in Ranked for about 10+ matches in ranked: While Friesland can out DPM any destroyer she faces one on one, such an encounter is quite rare until the near end of the game or near the less contested caps. It is quite difficult to contest caps early game as your concealment at 6.4 km upgraded means that other destroyers can keep you spotted until you smoke up, find cover, or runaway. During this time you will instantly become focused down by enemy cruisers/battleships. This is nothing new to destroyer players however the lack of torpedoes means that your ability to deny enemies from taking/retaking caps is severely hampered. This leaves you to a much more supporting role by providing smoke to allies and heading towards the lesser contested cap and hoping to engage in near one on one fights. The Friesland gets more powerful the less ships there are which means that if your team struggles to get trades or is down by a ship or two it quickly becomes much more difficult to comeback in Friesland than in something like Black, Jutland, or Kitakaze. Friesland can definitely work in ranked but it definitely feels handicapped without an area of denial weapon such as torpedoes to prevent/discourage pushes. As long as you realize this and adapt your play style accordingly then Friesland is definitely a decent ship within ranked.

Udaloi clicks perfectly with me, it has 10 km torpedoes in a similar-ish arrangement as Mogador (which allows for some yoloing), a decent speed boost, great ballistics, DefAA, a heal AND smoke. It's the "utility" gunboat, capable of keeping itself alive while having attrition gunfights with other DDs thanks to it's ability to control engagements.

I'm not convinced by the Friesland. The Kita can launch 12 powerful torps and pens 30 mm stock, the Friesland has...hydro? And worse concealment? Meh...

@@sirdancealot2645 exactly, had a game in my bronze qualifiers with 2 bbs left on our team and a friesland on the other, we had the cap advantage with not much time, he tried hard but he just lost. Torps are a MUST in late game situations.

I have friesland. The hydro can be powerful if you force close enough to a smoked up kita and pelt her while she can't see you. Plus you make a nice no fly zone for CVS. Friesland is not a DPM ship and you have to force yourself to remember that. It harrasses, and provides aa no fly zones.

Z-46 has served me so well in ranked, and so has Bismarck. Granted, the latter is often an uphill battle, but in the games where I come out on top against ships a tier higher, it's a fantastic feeling.

One thing I notice is people underuse AP on the Kitakaze - unlike most DDs the shells arm on 19mm plating so you can use the full DPM in knife fights or ambushes against broadside DDs.

Missouri is garbage. Heals and rudder shift are absolute trash. Missouri is an Iowa with more than 16 percent less heals and an almost 2 second worse rudder shift. Radar means nothing. I guarantee at least two ships every ranked game is going to have radar, I.e both cruisers. I’d rather have the spotter plane.

I simply can't believe that the Jutland isn't on this list. I wreck and face roll in T9 Ranked with the Jutland every time. Despite it's nerfs that old girl still kicks serious butt.

2910PR, 75% WR with 85k average Friesland player, but in my mind, Friesland is not too good at ranked. The real problem for this ship is the combination of 6.4 concealments, 36kts, long-duration long CD smoke, with no speed boost. You cannot control the cap as easily as Cossack, Jutland, Lighting; get spotted by Akizuki, Kitakaze; and it's really hard for you to deal with a Mogador. This ship is my favorite dd in random since you can easily kill their dd and smoke and spam, but in ranked it is much harder for you to kill their dd, and you are much harder to find a place to spam. Speaking of cap control British dd should be better.

Georgia is really fun now. Swift in Silence =43.1 knots. Its awesome in ranked, more than it used to be, that 5 knots extra speed is totally worth it for Georgia, it takes her strongest aspect and makes it better.

nice vid as always. but i disagree a bit with your DD-picks, if im allowed to: 5 moga (cause easily outplayed), 4 benham (very ugly to play against even if enemy is 'server average'), 3 black (radar useful but only decent gunpower and very little use of torps cause too slow, long smokereload), 2 ostergotland (veeery underrated but slap AFT on it and rpf + the musthaves and u have a very good gunboat + very good torps cause of narrow spreads and speed. mix floodings with good firechance + AFT and be nightmare to all classes. heals. AA). 1 def kitakaze (unrivaled gunpower, AA, for ranked 8km torps, yamamoto, monster). friesland against good players almost useless -> no heals, underwhelming conceal, no torpalpha, long smokereload, 2 turrets -> dead meat to kitakazes cause of broadsiding.

Friesland - fully agree - not only powerful but has an amazing exp coeficient. Even if team colapses it's very easy to save star. On cruisers - you forgot Kronshtad - I know Alaska is highly regarded but Kron is simply better. The guns simply deliver much better beyond 12-13km where Alaska starts to struggle with murican lazy balistic. And 12km radar makes a LOT of difference in giving intel to team - remember radar works not in straight line but gives a circle. 10 km radius and 12 km radius differs in a 44% bigger circle. On BBs - JB if one likes to camp and goes for save star but again - suprosed not to see Pommern up high ! Much more than Musashi in going for caps and pushing if needed, ultimately to torp enemy BB.

I have just finished my (painful) grind through the silver qualification. Did all matches with the Soyuz. Surprisingly I didnt come accross a single Massa, not on the own side or the enemy. The rare T8 BB's that I saw were mostly Vlady's and a few Alabama's

Last time we had T9 ranked, I struggled to find 'my ship' for the season. In T8, it was Cossack, no contest, but it took me a lot longer at T9. I tried a lot of the usual suspects; Alaska, Kitakaze, and so on, but none of them clicked for me. They are all certainly strong ships, and I could do well enough, but they lacked the carry power I needed to pull my dumbass teams kicking and screaming to a victory. I eventually settled on the Fletcher; despite the Kita's better gun power, I feel that the Fletcher just has so much more versatility. Stealthier, more maneuverable and torps that reload much faster for bullying BBs and clearing caps. And as much as I love Friesland for random battle grinding, the lack of a torp threat holds her back, IMHO. While you can do a lot of damage to BBs with those guns, you can't intimidate them, can't keep them pinned in place without even just the threat of torps.

suprised not to see Jutland and Neustrashimi on the list. In clan battles they were around a lot. Even in typhoon (after the mogador limit). Maybe they dont have the torp power that the torpboats have or the gunpower that the gunboats have, but they have the survivability and guns and torps are decent. Both with the heal are insanely hard to kill, even when caught in a radar. They have good conceal. They got the heal, so if a DD fight breaks out and neither of them dies, neustra/jutland basically always win, as they are able to heal up again. Especially neustra. Adding defAA on neustra against T8 CVs is a nice to have. The jutland hydro helps avoiding lucky torps when contesting. The single launch can clutch some kill for the jutland. I think over all those 2 are very powerfull ships to control engagements and do long term work on a cap. Also neustra is only outspotted by yugumo wich isnt exactly common, so its fair to say neustra has the best conceal. Given the fact that cruisers are the least common role at the moment, you get a fair ammount of games with no radar at all, wich lifts the neustras concealment power even more up in value. I think those 2 would have deserved a spot. In my mind they are better than fletcher.

Jean Bart was kind of a monster for me last Ranked season with Deadeye ... with it, not only did it pump out shells, but shells that were consistent if I managed my distance well. Playing it now w/o Deadeye, its honestly kind of a shotgun now :/

I bullied a Friesland with my ZF-6. This thing is huge to my mind. Also the biggest downside of a Friesland is the lack of torps. What are you going to to if a BB simply rushes your smoke? There is no huge thread to them. Friesland is a fun ship for random but not competitive enough to my mind. ZF-6 beats it for real.

Yeah friesland needs to be played carefully - a bit like Belfast - no torps makes you vulnerable if you don't have a friend around.

Honestly Benham isn't that good for ranked either, it may have incredible torps,,but 10km range =vulnerable to radar and its SLOW.

Been doing Jervis for T7, it's a bit of a challenge but it can be lethal, didn't realise the click was last night so went to bed rather than completing qualification which was annoying :-)! Still more Bronze. Friesland not too sure about - lots of radar at T9, you pretty much can't do anything about a bb pushing into you, for me it has a high skill floor, you can have great games in it but you're dependent on your team mates to an extent it's a hard ship to carry in (IMHO). Donskoi is great - but you have to be careful especially with all the new large guns around, I'd rate Donskoi over Riga - better radar, more manoverable.

The list is Ok but I feel that in BBs, Pommern should have a place. It is a very strong BB at tier 9.

It is just an FDG with torpedoes that cant overmatch 27mm cruisers. With the nerfed secondaries, there is no reason to run that ship. Such a shame... i liked her.

PQ I'd like to see you use friesland in ranked. I struggle to beat a kitakaze with AR since 8 guns reloading about as fast as 4 is just a tough comparison.

My personal picks: Battleship: Full Secondary Pommern - not the most effective ship, but it puts a lot of pressure on the caps and when it comes to brawling, you win - not one ship on your list ever won a brawling against my Pommern. It's THE ship with the "I win the brawling" button. Cruiser: Partial Secondary Ägir - partial, because it obviously does not have the Commander Power for Secondaries, but modules are the same as on Pommern - and this thing is a Mini-Pommern on steroids. 20k secondary damage in 1 brawl against a BB? No problem and you still get Torps and a very good main battery to push BBs out of existence and still have enough HP left to try on the next one. This cruiser is also a good BB hunter with only 11.9 km concealment and got good enough mobility to evade a lot of DD torps. Well, you guessed it, I'm all in for secondaries. Yep, they work in Ranked, even better than in random games - but of course they ain't the solution for everything. Brawling does not occur in all games and it's not the most effective game play, but it's a lot of fun.

Unfortunately, two of them are in top slots for their class, but, not really PQ's fault that WG likes removing access to OP ships rather than nerfing them, so we all get to deal with them forever, even if we can't have them, ourselves.

PQ, most rare ships are in x-mas crates, buy enough and you get all on the list... no Smaland though(maybe 2021 has it, who knows) and i am not sure Friesland was in crates last x-mas, but Benham is/was for sure

I’m surprised the Lenin didn’t make the list. Yes T8 but can hold it’s own against any of the T9 except the Musashi of course. It’s maneuverable for a BB. Rail guns. The range is painful but ranked is closer in. If you take the torpedo detection skill and run the det flag you can avoid those terrible torpedo detonations she is prone to. I’ve had 2 - 4 kill games in ranked with her

I'm assuming Neptune is too squishy. Good AA, radar(if you build for it), hydro, insane rate of fire, and really good torps. It gets easily citadeled by almost anything at any angle which is why its probably not here.

Encountered a crap ton of Alaskas and Georgias in Silver league qualifications, personally I have been using the tier 8 Oland and it works for me, not sure why.

What people see in Alaska I can not understand. Sure, radar is a nice thing and if you get broadside close to one it will hurt you bad, but so will all ships. It has garbage maneuverability, dispersion is just all over the place and it's really not that tanky. Seriously, and bb takes away huge amounts of its hp regardless of angling. Any time I see one I have a field day because they are easy to hit and takes a lot of dmg.

Using Jean Bart I noticed hanging back, slinging HE until it's time for that final push. Hopefully I've deterred the enemy team from sniping me first, and have enough hp left. But yes, not the best overall but just the best i have Edit: I don't feel as comfortable with soyuz because of the poor maneuverability

Japanese battleships ALL have shit vertical dispersion, including the yamato but musashi has especially bad vertical dispersion.

I disagree with you ranking JB super low. You are an absolute monster of a ship with reload booster you can punish broadsides and either stick to playing in the middle of the map or bow tank a cap at a distance. You have longer range than Musashi as well. Guns are super accurate at any range with a short reload. If a BB is gonna bow tank you destroy them with HE. Also since you're French, CV's like Germany, Japan, and Enterprise will have a very hard time citadeling you because you have a lot of decks to go through and little space to hit your actual deck since your guns and superstructure are very large and cover a good amount of area. The only CVs you should be scared of are Lexington and Saipan due to high HE bomb alpha and pre-nerf Midway torps on Saipan.

Friesland has been a nonfactor in the games I've played in Silver. Granted, I'm usually in a Black. It's easy enough to bait him into smoke shooting and then just popping the radar outside his hydro range. The Z46 is much better at the same job IMO due to having torps. Due to the prevalence of radar (usually 2-3 per side per match), the Friesland ends up just being a gunboat that farms largely meaningless damage. BBs and cruisers have no issue just rushing a Friesland. When the match stalemates, the better torps usually carry the day. Even if you are just zoning people out to defend a cap, or to keep them kiting away off of one you want.

At buffed 43.1 knot speed Georgia is the only BB worth spending points on Swift in Silence.... it makes a fantastic ship (that isnt a great tank anyway) even better, but amplifying its strengths (Flanking and repositioning into advantageous firing positions)

I'm assuming you'll see more Bismarcks than FDGs because the Bismarck is better than the FDG in my, and a lot of others, opinion. Also the Bismarck is so good that it even deals with when it gets uptiered to tier 10, so I think it'll be fine. Also Tirpitz(because its a Bismarck with torps).

No ship is useless, just play it the way it's supposed to be. I guarantee whatever DPM you are chastising is good enough being played correctly

I reseted my ijn bb and ijn gunboats destroyer lines. I hope I can catch it up to the gold leauge because the gold leauge sprint without yamato is going to be a trouble for sure. Zao and Shima can also do it i guess. Silver sprint is going tk be fine af. Tho. With Musashi and hizen in the lineup I will enjoy this spring

It's a Yamato class for sure, but correct me if I'm wrong they both have very different turret speed and dispersion... I think you can definitely feel the sigma difference, sometimes Musashi feel meh Salvo on the opposite Yamato rarely disappoint if u aim correctly.. It makes a huge difference at the end even if they have the same caliber. Musashi still op tho.

Musashi and Yamato have the same dispersion, but Yamato has a 2.1 sigma and Musashi has a 1.8 sigma. If Yamato has the unique upgrade installed then it has better dispersion than Musashi, but Musashi's RoF will be higher. Musashi has the old Yamato turret 180 time of 72 seconds as it did not receive the turret rotation buff to 60 seconds that Yamato did. Its almost like Musashi was over performing and didn't need a buff....

Musashi is still king at doing unhealable damage. Lepanto is also damned good. Funnily enough both are great because they are amazingly good at killing Jeanbart... forcing the JB to either sit bow in and die, or do something stupid... Not saying that you can't be useful in JB. But its damage numbers tend to get inflated with HE spam, so for example 90,000 dmg with an AP ship often has more impact than 150k with an HE spammer. That's reflected in the stats for T9 ships as well,the AP ships have the best winrates, even if they often have a bit lower damage than the HE spammers.

Musashi has a severe weakness to CVS, but aside from that its pretty strong. Alaska is easy to Citadel from ~12-18 km away... any closer just burn it down with HE cruisers don't get good fire prevention. You can still get Musashi most likely, just gotta buy Xmas containers and after you get all the other ships that are lower tier, you'll get JB, Missouri and Musashi from the list, in order... Thats assuming they put them on the list for the coming year. Don't worry, you have FDR , Stalingrad and a few others which will be unobtainable at some point, and are at least as OP as Alaska and Musashi.

no its really not capable of dealing with battleships or heavy cruisers. Frieslands weakness is it lacks the tools to deal with anyone wanting to rush it down, its also too slow to run away... in many ways its like an asashio... fantastic unless the enemy team decides they want you dead. That's its problem, it can't *hold* ground. Fries lack of torps is a fatal flaw.
