I was thrilled when I saw the Black campaign pop up - IDGAF about the pacific tokens or spending 20k+ dubs only whales and crazy people would spend that - I'm just happy because I have around 300K coal just waiting for a new ship. Looking forward to to it showing up in the armory soon(ish). BTW, having to grind a potentially expensive campaign just to earn the opportunity to buy the ship is disgusting.

I agree with you. Grinding through an entire campaign just to obtain the oppurtunity to buy the ship full price is disgusting. Not even an ounce of discount. WeeGee at it's finest.

IIRC they said you can get the first two "bundles" thru the missions with tokens from that. The rest of the way has to be converted doubloons to tokens and then the final doubloon cost for Black. So with the coupons and discounts it was going to still cost around ~35k+ doubloons.

This was my first steel ship. I was so angry when they removed it to eventually make it a coal ship. Steel used to be a lot harder to get.

I got mine last night. She's inter😅to say the least, but I'm a torp😅 boat captain, and still getting used to depending on guns in a fight. That being said, she's been real good to me so far, the radar to spot them while keeping a 5.8 detectability is better than with my two Euro DD's. Add in the smoke and the 14.9 gun range (even if seriously floaty) makes her a fun ship. I've even killed a lot more ships with torpedoes than I thought was possible.

Nice video. One question: I really feel very confortable playind DDs so very tempted by Black, but I need lots of credits and I believe T9 BBs are the best at that. Should I buy Black with coal or go for a BB (Kearsarge) for credits?

Black is really powerful and for me a way better choice than Kearsarge. I have almost enough coal for the Black but I want to buy a commander with that coal so I just bought the Black and don’t regret it. I have a 21 point captain, boosted the radar to 25 seconds and I’m having a blast.

All Tier 9 premiums have the same credit multiplier (besides old Missouri, which was special), so you’ll get the same amount of silver with a good game in Black as you would with Kearsadge. So it’s up to your personal preference between BBs and DDs.

All ships have a hidden modifier, in general its higher for bbs and slightly lower for dds and cvs. Missouri was busted because it had the 18% multiplicative camo AND a great hidden modifier. That said from my experience in Kearsarge it doesnt feel that great at making credits.

JB has great credit making potential at T9, also the Alaska is pretty good too. But I think that he is right in saying that the BB's get better credit multipliers than DD's.

Kearsarge is an amazing BB. Most people potato in it just using the fighters but it has an incredible broadside with super tight shell dispersion. Black is much more difficult to do well in and its torpedoes require a fair bit of luck because they're so slow. Due to the speed the automatic predictor is pretty much useless. It bullies in T9 ranked but is kind of crap in randoms because it cant really carry and can easily get shredded by the newer gunboat DDs.

I’ve hit many ships with these slow torps and even dev struck a few DDs in caps. They are slow but reload pretty quickly, hit hard and have low detection. Not a torp boat though, that’s for sure. I noticed a friendly Fantasque cruising right behind my torps almost matching their speed.

I'd still stick to Jutland. Long hydro is good for screening for the large botes, heal is good for sustainability, 360 turrets give you maneurability, and single launch torps let you launch from surprise angles.

Jutland is a great boat. It all depends on play style really. I don't like seeing either on the enemy team.

Luckily you don't have to do the nation specific missions to complete the campaign, they are bonus missions only. Regardless, can't wait to buy this thing for coal

It should be noted that the price you would need to pay is about comparable to a normal tier 9 ship's admiral pack upon release in the premium shop. Its not exactly a bad deal, given what you actually get (2 12 point commanders, signals, the special camo, flag and such)... but if you have the coal its probably better to wait.

@@EvoraGT430 It really isnt. Given that the coal price only gets you the ship and not everything else. This really weird obsession with saying "I can get less for free so this thing I have to pay for that comes with more stuff isnt a good deal" only seems to apply to the Wargaming playerbase (both Ships and Tanks). Save your money if you want. Im not telling you to buy it... but it is not actually a bad deal given what you actually get alongside the ship.

That's usually NOT the case. Camos are typically unique affairs, more so than the ships.

you know what, I'll just convert all those pacific tokens that you get for free with missions for credits, gotta purchase the French bias machine (I got put on suicide watch after a clanmate showed me his build for competitive). Also you're right about the doubloon price of Black, it's 19.3k doubloons Also something I liked (and you can't blame me for that) I like the campaign, why you'll ask me, it's because of how it was written, it's written from the perspective of Black, not from any crew members whatsoever. There's one thing I can't remember, what did WG said about smoke+radar combo again ? On a final note, it's nice to see all those live ranked game in Black be used to put together a video.

All very different ships. Do you want a radar gunboat with seamine slow torps? Get Black. Do you want super speed and crazy DPM? Get Marceau. Do you want SAP, great ballistics, high DPM and Hydro? Get Sherman.

This is why I kind of hate that the Black is coming back. Too strong in T9 ranked. When it comes to T9 ranked DD meta, there's Black, and then there's everything else. I worry that it's going to get to the point where if you're not taking a Black, you're setting your team up for failure. End result: so many of my favourite DDs end up being port queens, and the team rosters are filled with USS Blacks. That's no fun, I think.

ranked wise not really. Mogador can get bullied hard for it's shit detect, Kita maneuvers like a whale but definitely is tied for being the best but even in a 1v1 i think it loses to the Black because Duh...radar

@@j_taylor mate, have you played the game lately? you get smashed by so many other gun boats is not even funny. i had it back in the day when it was a steel ship and was pretty good, but since then radar was nerfed and so many good gun boats were added. no need for a video for how bad it is, there's a reason why people would rather play gronningen.
