Hey Victor, what do you think about the heart having to pump extra having to push blood down and back up a now taller body ( & lengthier limbs)? Its something that I've thought about and it's something those who want to increase their height considerably should look into and consider.
@Cyborg4Life
@Cyborg4Life 3 жыл бұрын
Sure so the body will easily adapt to create enough vascularization to supply it's new tissue (in this case bone and muscle). I really don't think patients should worry about the body having blood flow issues after LL. Also, the distraction rate helps the body gradually adjust and prepare for this transition to this new environment. So in the end, even 3 inches of gradual bone length shouldn't affect blood flow but if it is still a worry, doing cardio post-consolidation is a great way to ensure tissues are amply oxygenated as well as optimal nutrient delivery for faster recovery

@Cyborg4Life

Phenomenal question and to be honest I would say it's a grey area. Some surgeons say the former and some say the latter. I agree with the former in that you can gain new tissue growth as per Dr. Rozbruch here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iZyuo2Zvh7qSmNE. But I also plan to look into this research as it relates to extreme stretching that LL can cause: themusclephd.com/hypertrophy-vs-hyperplasia/#:~:text=In%20short%2C%20no%3B%20skeletal%20muscle,a%20controlled%20resistance%20training%20protocol. Very informative channel : ) What is your opinion on Anterior pelvic tilt ( lordosis ) and femur lengthening? Do you think it would get alot worse from lengthening 2"? Would you advice against it if I already have a pretty big lordosis? Thank you
@Cyborg4Life
@Cyborg4Life 3 жыл бұрын
Good question. So it would depend what's causing your anterior pelvic tilt more and how long you had it/how severe it is. For example if you've had a bit of hyper lumbar lordotic spine curvature due to tight hip flexors and or weak glutes etc. then it could be managed through physical therapy & exercise. Doing femur lengthening will definitely result in losing glute strength, tightening of hip flexors so IT'S POSSIBLE that LL could make it worse or exacerbate your current issue a bit. Now, if you've had the apt and lordotic alignment due to years of poor posture and muscle imbalance it could be hard to say and a surgeon would need a lateral view spinal x-ray to determine degrees from neutral it is etc. and determine if you'd have lumbar issues post-LL. It'd be best if this was a LL surgeon as they would understand how lengthening would affect you more. But here's the good news, doing 5cm (as you mentioned) I doubt it would get significantly worse than it is and unless you have severe pain (and not just a skewed posture appearance) then you should be okay and I doubt the surgeon would be worried as long as aggressive physio is done. This is just my opinion though lol, so I can't say for sure but I hope it wouldn't bother you much.

if I did this surgery on the femurs with a credible doctor to achieve 5 cm, is that conservative and would that lessen the chances of complications a significant amount compared to people going for 7-8cm?

Every patient is different but yes, it's very likely 5cm will be safer than 7-8cm in most cases

4 to 6 inches. 6 is a little overdoing it but you can get 5 safely.

My conclusion after years of examining LL for shin using a nail is unlike femoral lengthening with the nail which is much safer than doing an external fixture for the femur, LL with a nail for the shin actually has the opposite effect starting with knee cartilage damage to bumps forming within the joint. My advice to those considering LL of the tibias with an internal nail is DONT do it. Stick to an external brace (for the tibias).
@ab1nash.
@ab1nash. 11 ай бұрын
But exfix in tibia is being done with LON too. Which will be the same in this case, as u've to insert a rod through the knee first just like inserting any internal lengthening nail. But If u r saying to only do it just by an external fixator without using LON method, then it will be pretty extreme. U've to keep the external fixator remain attached to your legs until the bones get fully consolidated, which is basically 1-1.5 yr of minimum time.

How painful is it on a scale of 1-100
@Cyborg4Life
@Cyborg4Life 3 жыл бұрын
I assume you mean the surgery. It has phases and everyone's pain tolerance is different but I'd say an average of 85-90 in first 2-3 weeks. Then big drop-off to about a 40-50 then about 10-30 8 weeks in if at all

Check if your growth plates are still open. If they are closed, I would recommend the surgery. If open, wait until the growth plates close.
