Thanks! You have such a calming voice and a wealth of information. I’d given up wheel throwing owing to arthritis in my thumbs. Maybe I’ll give it another go!

Thanks Vicki. Yes the clay on the Giffin grip works great. Even for reinforcing other pieces.

Hi there watch you alot you are very positive you take your time slowly to teach. Very refreshing compared to others. I've watched all your videos & any new ones that you post. I have some questions: A. You started on a video stating the 10 best rules for successful biz. I was hoping on alot more Do's Dont's & especially HOW'S. **DO YOU THINK YOU'LL EVER SHARE? 64 year old wants to know. Note: I was pretty much to the point of quitting it comes & goes. B. Is every piece of pottery made microwave & oven safe? What glazes are safe for these, it doesn't really say on the bottles! C. Does one get paid to do videos such as this, if so would you mind sharing how to teach giving instructional videos I'm mostly a degreed illustrator, anything else creative is just a hobby.

Hi L.H Thank you. It's the love of making something unquic from a lump of clay that keeps me going. I do get paid a little on KZbin from ads but not enough to make a living. Here is a link to a post that may help potterycrafters.com/starting-a-pottery-business/ And here is one for microwave-safe pottery potterycrafters.com/is-pottery-microwave-safe/ When you place your pottery in the oven make sure you heat it up with the oven. And remember, pottery gets heated to over a thousand degrees but slowly. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask. I hope you continue to create. 😍

I love that paint brush pot your using, the colour is beautiful.. I’m amazed how much it shrunk overall. Beautiful casserole dish though

Thanks so much Dawn 😊 I know, It's amazing. As much as I'm aware of it I will never get used to the amount of shrinkage with pottery😃

@@PotteryCrafters the casserole turned out great, a bit on the smaller side but my focus is on technique, well that’s my excuse anyway 🤣

I enjoy your videos! My question is for these casserole pots are they safe to go inside the oven? Thank you!!
@PotteryCrafters2 жыл бұрын
Thank you, Sheila. Yes, they are! Just make sure you heat the casserole dish up with the oven. If you put the cold casserole dish in a hot oven the casserole dish may crack.

Awesome! Turned out beautiful. 👍👍 One question. I noticed during the throwing portion that there's a fishing bobber in the flowered bucket. What's it in there for? Love your videos. Edit; I saw it in the next video. The float is keeping your chamois from sinking to the bottom. Great idea.

Yes, correct. My potter friend gave it to me. I've had for a long time. 😊

WOW it is nice to know that they can be fired separate during the glazing.! THANKS. Also could these be used in the microwave? I normally use Artic White or B mix clay.
@PotteryCrafters3 жыл бұрын
You are welcome😍 Yes I final fire all my lids separately and bisque together. They turn out great😀 Here is a post that will help you know if your pottery is microwave safe. potterycrafters.com/is-pottery-microwave-safe/

Was intrigued by the extent of glaze layers (up to 5) so far I have tended to just do a single dip in to a bucket of glaze. It’s this something to do with the viscosity (thinness) of the glazes you use that means you tend to build it up? Thanks.
@PotteryCrafters Жыл бұрын
I know it sure is something. Yes, I was not getting the results I wanted until I upped my game and added more layers of glaze. Dipping glaze differently. The glaze builds up as you hold it in the bucket. That's why you can only hold it in the bucket for 3 to 5 seconds. 👍

What special steps should one take when using the casserole in the oven since this isn't special clay for cookware?
@PotteryCrafters4 жыл бұрын
Good question Grammie😊 The casserole dish should be warmed up with the oven to prevent cracking. Since it is not cookware clay, to be on the safe side, I won't heat it up too hot. Maybe use it more for keeping the food warm instead of cooking in it. 😍
@cochoathemudslinger90553 жыл бұрын
I thought both pieces needed to be fired together in case of warping so they would both keep the same shape
@PotteryCrafters3 жыл бұрын
Yes, you are right. 😊When you bisque fire them. I always fire them together. But not when you glaze fire unless you have no glaze on the areas that are resting together or the two pieces will fuse together when you glaze fire 🙂

Marie, I checked out your brush selection. I notice they are all "natural" hair brushes. I thought since the glazes are water based that the natural bristle would swell with water and make applying stiff and difficult. At least that's the case with paint. Latex paint uses nylon and oil base paint uses natural bristle. Nylon so water isn't absorbed making the paint flow stiff. Hummm
@PotteryCrafters3 жыл бұрын
Very good question Bob 😊Yes natural hair brushes are recommended. Because glaze is very different from paint. You have much larger particles suspended with water. Which makes it very different from particles suspended with acrylic. They hold and then release the larger particles onto your ceramics which is different from paper or canvas. Natural fibers release glaze and underglaze particles better. 😊
