The alocasia question hit home for me. 😂 I transferred my only alocasia to Leca a while ago and literally all of its roots died along with all but the newest leaf. I ended up cleaning it up, cutting off all but the one surviving leaf and leaving it to sit. It’s been I think two-ish weeks and I’m finally seeing two roots on the side of it’s clear pot. Hopefully it’ll settle in pretty soon. Now I’m struggling to have my peace Lily transfer peacefully. Ive decided to do your long method with the next plants I transfer. I have a tendency to be too impatient which is why I think my alocasia tried to give up on life. 😂

The more time goes on, I feel the decades change. 40 is the new 30, stuff like that. My 30th bday was like the start of my “new 20’s”, but unfortunately that only lasted the first half of my thirties. Then shit hit the fan somehow. Now I’m just… 37 and not sure what else. lol. Nora I love you shared your age! I always thought you looked at least 10 years younger but with your wisdom and confidence you seem older. I suppose that's why whoever asked did so! I am 38 and I remember being at an age where it was like "if I'm still alive by 30 someone better fix that cuz I don't want to be old" yay here I am doing way better than in my 20s. It's kinda funny when ppl think they are peaking in their 20s when in reality it's such a struggle and you don't even realize it until your in your 30s. Like so much peer pressure, trying to fit in, thinking you need to do all nighters drinking or partying, working junk jobs (well the job market equally sucks now), looking for a partner and feeling like if you're single there is something wrong with you etc, then you get to your 30s and most of us are like "screw that" and you start prioritizing healthy routines and self care. You don't feel lame if you've gone to bed at 8pm BC you were tired. It's such a weird brain transition!
@TheLecaQueen Жыл бұрын
Hey Marisa! 👋 I know how weird we all are about age right! It only just gets better as we get older. The wisdom is just awesome. When we realise we do not have to conform and become our true selves, then the magic starts to happen ✨️ 😉

@@TheLecaQueen Exactly!! In your teens and twenties the idea of staying home because you need to work or whatever your inner voice is soooo negative and often prompted by "friends" that say things like "only a loser would stay in on Friday night" and that sorta thing, then you age 15 years and you realize that not only were most of those people not your actual friends but you are far more happy with listening to your own inner voice! Of course for a lot of people a few friendships from those years do last a lifetime but it is rare! Once your confident, even with flaws, you just get respected and you don't even have to "demand it" bc it comes with the confidence!! AND we still get to have a ton of fun because of kids!!! Seeing the world through them is one of the best parts of growing up!!!

I have a Q I dont know if you have answered it in a previous video, but do you ever have problems with edema (water bursting the leaves cells, it looks like dark patches in the back of the leaf) with your plants in leca? Several of the plants I have transitioned to leca or pon in the last few months have been having this problem. They have grown new roots into the reservoir, but then the leaves start getting edema and eventually the edges turn yellow and die off. Its stressing me out!

@ClairThomas-hl7dc Жыл бұрын
Is it true that plants grow slower in leca?
@TheLecaQueen Жыл бұрын
That is a question that needs to have alot of caveats. Leca does not influence the rate of growth of the plant, it is simply a medium, what it allows for is optimised conditions, better drainage, aeration, constant supply to water and nutrition. If leca is used the right way, plants thrive. You also need to take into account the other elements a plant needs to grow, light, humidity, temperature. Have these all been controlled for when someone says leca plants grow slower? I would probably say no. The results anyone gets with any tool depends on how that tool is used. So in my experience, the answer is no, it is not true.

I see you have a lot more holes in your pots. Some people only have them on the bottom. Is this a personal preference or is there a reason? I see some people struggle with mould and wondering if they have too little holes in their pots. Loving your channel, so much information. Thank you!
@TheLecaQueen Жыл бұрын
Hi, I put holes in my pots to increase aeration to the roots. I believe it helps. Others do not. The mould would be from too much light. If you grow your plants in clear jars, mould will happen.
