I definitely learned last year, that it is absolutely true, that the reason they stay small for so long, is because they focus on their root growth 1st! Their roots are massive when they're still teeny tiny!

Nicole, Store your lizzie's in the fridge! I haven't finished watching the video but I just had to stop and say this... I also heard that pelleted will have horrible germination 2nd year, but storing in fridge would help- but I'm very frugal & had to at least TRY! & I mentioned in my "10 tips for growing Lisianthus" how when I sowed my seeds from the previous year (from Johnny's & Swallowtail) I STILL had between 70%-85% GERMINATION!!! 👏 & I betcha it was because I stored them in the fridge!

Ok so I'm a month in now, and I alllllllmost gave up on my Lisianthus. This is my first year growing them so I threw them on heat mats and more are finally popping up. Most are 4 weeks in and so so tiny, I am going to give them a little longer because maybe they just needed some time. I bought from different seed providers and pretty sure the ones from Seedman were just bad because those have less than a 5% germination rate at 4 weeks. So glad I found your channel. I have tons of other flowers going but never tried these before now. Fingers crossed I get at least a few in my garden this year 🤞

So much fun, just recently received my very first Johnny's order!! Woohoo

GeoSeed claims their seeds are good for up to 3 years... I ordered about $60 worth of Lisianthus seeds but they won't arrive until mid-May - I was hoping to plant them in December... They're all clay pelleted, so hope I didn't just blow a bunch of money on non-viable seeds! D:

Oh wow, they look amazing! Mine germinated 2 weeks ago, but still are nearly visible. I grow them in my greenhouse and I'm thinking it might be the light? How many hour of light get your lizzies? Do you leave the growlights on at night or do they get some sleep? I harvested my lisianthus seed myself last year, just for fun. So they weren't pelleted. Might be the reason why they stay tiny as well. Thank you for al your joyful and inspiring videos!

Hi Nicole. Thanks for sharing the lisianthus video. I have a question about the fertilizer. I bought some Neptune’s Harvest fertilizer, and it says on the bottle not to store diluted fertilizer. That may be problematic for me. I have a styrofoam tray with 60 small plants on it. I started them in 3/4” soil blocks, so obviously they don’t need tons of water. Even if I make a 1/2 gallon of diluted fertilizer, that will last quite awhile. Have you ever made up any of the mixture and kept it for a few days? If so, how did that go for you?
@FlowerHillFarm2 жыл бұрын
I’ve used a gallon over a 24 hour period but that’s about it. I’m not sure how long it lasts once mixed up.

@@allysonrogers9701 Thanks, Allyson. I’ve thought about making a very small amount. I don’t think I even use a cup of water a day for watering, though. The soil blocks are tiny.
