I remember as was growing up in the Baltimore area in the 50s/60s, my dad always started his tomatoes and peppers inside on March 15th, according to the moon. He planted other seeds directly in the garden. Now that I live in western Montana, my son-in-law does things differently. We'll have a discussion about what they'll grow and what I will can. Then we'll go outside and play in the dirt and watch my 5 year old granddaughter plant seeds and write the names of the plants on popsicle sticks. Great family activity on a Saturday afternoon.

It's so exciting when you start up potting tomatoes. It's time for me to start mine. My elderberry starts are doing great.

Peppers always take longer because they really like the heat. I watch my babies daily. I'll be starting my tomatoes soon and peppers also.
