Agreed. This clip made my morning, what a sensational piece of footage; arguably one of the best vehicles ever built, being driven exactly how it was meant to be driven. Not thrashed, but pushed respectfully hard. If I was blessed enough with the means to own such a car, I'd drive it exactly the same. maintenance is everything. As long as a car is maintained to manufacturer's specifications, warmed up before being driven respectfully hard, and allowed to cool down on the tail leg before being turned off, it's happy days for both the car and the driver :)

Kicking the back end like that on an F40 that has no traction control or other electronic nannies is far more impressive than anything people do with more modern supercars. Fantastic driving, fantastic camerawork and editing and fantastic car.

@@PoltergeistWorks Was he not granny shifting, and instead double-clutching like he should? (Which only helps when downshifting.. fkn hollywood). Ah yeah, 2:25 or so. Mate, you can even teach yourself how to do it in a corolla or something - it's a pretty easy skill to pick up and master and can help you if you ever need to drive a manual car with a faulty clutch.
@PoltergeistWorks Жыл бұрын
@@phattjohnson double clutching a gearbox with synchro? Don’t quite get if you’re saying he WAS double clutching or he was supposed to double clutch (none of which seems to be true). Of course you can do that in any car but modern cars and especially cars with low power are not easily thrown out of balance by downshifting. You can mash gears however you want in a corolla lol.
@Simon-bu4kc Жыл бұрын
@@PoltergeistWorks it was a Fast 'n Furious reference ;) also I have to disagree with johnson since technically double clutching also helps when upshifting... it just helps such a tiny marginal amount that most somewhat-ok transmissions don't care. and while you might not need to care about balance with a corolla, he was talking about picking up a skill and having fun doing it. and even for the corolla if heel-and-toe is done right it does relieve stress from the transmission and can save fuel compared to just declutching and rolling to a stop wasting all that kinetic energy

I saw one on the road once, must have been the early 90s, north of London heading out towards Watford. Traffic was slow, and I saw in my mirror an F40 weaving through the traffic. Normally, I would have cursed the driver for being a twat, but he was doing it so smoothly and neatly, without endangering anyone, so I cut him some slack. I noticed it had an "F40" registration, but again, I thought at least he knows how to drive it. Turned out later that it belonged to Nigel Mansell....

Shut it you either don't care about cars or you've got a lot to learn. I know this is a poster car but you need to realize a lot of poster cars don't actually drive nice and are only worth dreaming about, not worth driving. What do you want to do? Do you want to look at it? -> buy a replica or a clay model of the car Do you want to drive it? -> buy a better drivers car with the money Do you want to own it as an investment -> buy a better investment, there are other investments which are nice to look at such as watches. Sorry to burst your bubble but this is not a car you should aspire to own because that's A) unrealistic B) you can get a better driving experience for less than half of the money. This is a million dollar car, meaning you would not only have to earn a million dollars to be able to afford it, but you'd need to earn much more in order to be able to drive it because anytime you take it out you're taking a risk. If your plan for winning the lottery is buying an F40 that's incredibly unreasonable. Your dreams don't have to make sense I'm just telling you this wouldn't be much fun to own, and people who buy cars to look at them or as investments are kinda despicable when it comes to dream cars.

@@OttepStenHD Actually if you see it as a challenge and you know the car is hard to drive then it might be worth your time. I'm just saying it has no ABS, no traction control, so easy to crash this car. So you need to be a driver to aspire to own it. And you need much more than a million $ to take it out and risk totaling it. It's an extremely raw driving experience so if that's what you want and you want to actually drive the car that's sick, I hope you achieve it. Other than that I strongly recommend any other Ferrari that's more safe, more practical, usable and so on. I know a guy who owns an F40 and his hasn't left the garage in years. It's as if it was a clay model, no point to owning it besides an "investment" but there are better investments. So as far as I'm concerned there are much better dream cars but if you're in love with it and you're a driver then the only thing you're missing is money.
