So why the door when pressure varies between tires? My Volvo station wagon has tires rated for 50 psi. But it also takes tires rated for 36 psi.

@@CharlieBerensI remember when my tires went flat (well, my tire pressure light is always on, because I think my sensor is broken), I spent a lot of time flipping through the manual trying desperately to find the proper psi after Google-sensei let me down. If it was on the door all along, I could have saved so much time.
@vksjd
@vksjd 4 күн бұрын
@@dave.lenton, the maximum pressure rating for a tire is just that, the maximum. The maximum pressure rating is listed on the tire. The recommended pressure for a particular car is usually well below that and is listed in the door frame. Some cars recommend different pressures for the front and back tires. Manufacturers want some safety margin between the recommended pressure and the maximum pressure rating, so a car with recommended tire pressures of 36 PSI may have tires with a maximum pressure rating of 50 PSI. I would be surprised if your tires have a maximum pressure of 36 PSI, but that would be a pretty common recommended pressure.

This is honestly a good representation of many drivers out there. Cars are getting "smarter" and more autonomous every year, but the most basic of maintenance and paying attention to your vehicle will always be required. Great advice on the pressure as well. And yes, keeping a pressure gauge in your pocket is clearly a joke, but having one in your glove box is a really good idea. Gauges on the pumps at the petrol stations aren't always accurate so it's a good idea to double check.

Hours of trying, three tire irons and an actual impact wrench courtesy of someone else helping me we couldn't get the nuts off. So at midnight I call my dad and explain the situation. Eh, filling it to the "max" isn't *bad* just not going be optimal. But the thing going "boom" being at the tire's marked max psi is bs. Source: all the brainiacs whose tires I had to drop from like 70+psi whenever they came into the tire shop I worked at who made it to the shop into the first place without said tires going boom. Those ones were definitely treading the line and playing with fire on that one but your tires aren't exactly going to go boom just from 40 something psi

I lost my dad this year, and I can't tell you how this reminds me of this goofy way of telling me what to do. He had such a sense of humor and would complain one moment then help me in the same motion. This also reminds me how much I miss him. Your video is funny but still true in its delivery, and I am sure he would've found this hilarious! Thank you 😂😊

This is perfect. Gotta love dads. When I was about nineteen, me and my dad were driving at night in MY truck, when a deer came running out of the field on my right and into the corner of the truck. He yells at me “how the hell didn’t you see that, I saw it coming from a mile away!” I didn’t point out that I was focused on the road in front of me, and that it may have been helpful if he’d spoken up about the deer. I still would’ve been wrong. God bless all of em. Go hug your dads.

No, dad was right and taught you a lesson at the same time, he's not always going to be there with you. This reminds me of a road trip and the first hour was rural, my female passenger said at the end... at least there were only 3 deer... my reply was "There were over 100 and I stopped counting".

Real quick people, on your tire it says a specific pressure. And its true, never go that high. But your censors also just tell you the amount before it tells you it needs air. Every car is different, some will tell you a number well below the recommended amount. Which for normal tires its usually 38-40. Lt's 60-70. Cant count how many tires I see get ruined because people put too little or much air.
