Shoutout to Kieran the pacer!! Im in the video on the left he paced me perfectly for the first 11 miles allowing me to kick at the end for a massive PB 1.29.23 👍🏽

That’s superb Ben! Indeed Kieran is a top pacer and runs at metronome pace 🏆

It was such fun, but as John said, more of good weather for the spectators. Which makes Dawns achievement even more incredible, so soon after Manchester to run a great time on a tough course and super hot. None of us have had time to train in any heat past 5 months and I think it impacted a lot of people. I need to remember my sun cream next time 🤪

Didn’t realise you were there mate! Actually used your video from last year as research on the course. Agree it was very warm, and many twists/turn. I managed to scrape a 49:36! Will see you in Bristol 10k 👍

Well done! Hope the research helped and look forward to seeing you at Bristol 👍🏼

Cracking result mate! I raced the 10k and managed to get 2 new PBs! Managed a 5km PB (19:23) and a 10km PB (41:08), so absolutely buzzing! What a day it was as well with the sun ☀

The heat was something else. I really struggled with that as we don't have the shiny sky orb in Scotland but had a fab time anyway! Really glad you captured it, and well done on pacing Jeff to a course PB!

Great video Donato, I’m doing the Great Manchester Run on 26-May and I’m hoping it won’t be warm as it was last year😩I was going for sub-50 and all was well until Trafford Park 6K, wheels came off😩. They set us off too late I think, 1130, should be 0900😊
@PoetWithPace6 ай бұрын
Thank you Andy! Wishing you all the best for Manchester. I will be there also but for the half marathon that starts 8:20 so should be much cooler. If it gets too hot for you just slow down, use all the water aid stations to keep you cool and have lots of factor 50 sun cream on 👍🏼
@AndyCliffMTB6 ай бұрын
@@PoetWithPace Thanks Donato, you’ll be finished way before I even start😂What time are you aiming for and also are you now fully fit after your injuries and the shock wave treatment? Good advice, I overdid it in 2022, did a 49:49 10K but St John Ambulance staff said I looked terrible at the finish so guided me to their tent and 30 minutes of rehydration😬

@@PoetWithPace Glad you’re back to full fitness, enjoy your Half Marathon, hopefully the conditions will be as usual (dry, no wind and 15-16C - or less preferably😊). I did a 7K last night and it was the first time this year where I could feel the heat😕

You can't beat a pacer to follow. Like being at school cribbing someone's homework. A couple of years ago, I did my 2nd ever 10k race at Friskney near Boston with my daughter. Low key affair, about 80 runners. Anyway, I'd finished and was waiting for my daughter to finish, which was about the last 300 m on the village sports field and taped off to separate runners from spectators. So I ran on the spectator side for a few seconds to encourage her to get a shift on, and this lady wandered over from the organising club and threatened to disqualify me for pacing 😂😂😂😂. I thought she was pulling my leg being a newbie runner. But apparently not. My first taste of officialdom.
@PoetWithPace6 ай бұрын
Oh wow! thats is crazy how strict some officials are LOL.....thanks for sharing! You got any races coming up?
@61js6 ай бұрын
@PoetWithPace Next is 10K Summer Solstice in June, just up the road from where I live. Hopefully not as hot as last year, but a tad drier than the half at Boston the other week 😂
