Andy goes for a drive in the 372whp Turbo Miata. The NB Mazda Miata has a Flyin Miata turbo manifold and downpipe kit, as well as a Garrett GTX2860R Gen II on it. The Miata Turbo is running 21psi of boost on a built engine. Turbo Mx-5 is reviewed, there are plenty of full throttle acceleration pulls and runs covered in the video as well as tires spinning in 2nd and 3rd gear. The exhaust is a Borla XR1 Muffler, a Helmholtz resonator was used. Thanks for watching!

It's never too late to get one! First car, they can be fantastically reliable and make a great car. However, being a small convertible means teenage idiocy on public roads may get you killed easier too. Great safety for what they are, but physics is physics and miata vs f150 is a big loser for the miata. If you get one, be safe! A miata was my second car after I wrecked the first one being an idiot myself. I'm still here all these years later

What gauges/gage pod are you running? Also what driveline mods did you do besides a built motor? Doing something similar with my car and trying to figure out if a Walter motorsports built trans and a 3.9 torsen with a welded housing will be enough

Just a tuff clutch. The rear end is stock Torsen 3.9 and stock 6 speed transmission. However, I've broken 2 6 speeds now, so... theres that!

@@CarGuyFridays how have you not broken the housing? They're notorious for breaking they have a break point designed for accidents. Usually the first thing to go after a lot of hard launches even on stock power or just over

I run 200tw tires but dont do any drag racing from a stop. It does spin tires when you floor 3rd and boost kicks in though. I think the breaking housing points at the crash spot is overblown lately on the internet. I've been doing fast miatas since the early 2000s and that was never an issue. You normally would explode the ring and pinion. Or axles before the housing. That's when people usually just went 8.8 or any of the other options.

Standard 6 speed box, I've broken one already but they seem to last a little while if you don't beat on it constantly.

Got it on ebay. It's a abs plastic spoiler with carbon fiber wrap on it. Caution, the wrap doesnt hold up great over time.

What turbo setup are you running? Flyin miata?

Kind of, it has a FM manifold and Turbine outlet and thats it. The rest is custom. Garrett intercooler, custom IC pipes, GTX2860R. But it does give you an idea of what you can do with the FM manifold. It can support a lot more power than people give it credit for. I added up including the motor build I think it was 11-12k that's everything turbo kit, engine build, torsen and 6 speed.

Yes, I do think that's a good swap. Once you are over 300ftlb the 6 speed is on borrowed time. They will last a while depending on how you drive it though.

So far I have broken one 6 speed. That was with my old 2560r. This 6 speed in the car now has been great almost 2 years now. I don't launch the car and I don't no lift. If you treat it nicely it'll hold 400.

You need to find a better perspective for the recording. The camera is too low. It's not pov unless you are actually sitting on the floor with no seat. Props for the car setup.

In the description it does say a couple specs. But it's a BP4W with a built bottom end 8.5:1 cr, 84.5mm bore, bp5a intake cam, FM manifold and downpipe, Garrett intercooler, gtx2860r gen2 turbo @ 20-21psi.
