Elden Ring ignited my passion for these games. I first tried playing Dark Souls 2 on the PS3, but it was way too difficult for me since I was around 12 when I played. That experience kept me from trying to play Dark Souls 3 or any of the other games like Bloodborne or Sekiro. Then Elden Ring came around and curiosity took over combined with my friend telling me about how much fun it is, so I decided to play Elden Ring. God damn it I was not ready for the awesomeness that Elden Ring was. After I completed that game, I decided to play Bloodborne and then Dark Souls 3. All 3 are some of my most favorite games of all time. I did try to play Sekiro, but I've never been so hard pressed to get good and learn all these different skills that it was a little overwhelming and I put it down after the first Genichiro fight. I will definitely get back to it eventually, but sheesh it's quite an intimidating game

TBF, as someone who really enjoys the bosses the most, I have to say ER was pretty disappointing. The DS3 bosses had a such a nice tempo and pace to it. While yes, the first few bosses are pretty easy, Iudex, Vordt, Curserotted/Crystal Sage. The game really picks up after that. Pontiff, Nameless, Twin Princes, Champion Gundyr, Soul of Cinder, Gael, Midir, Sister Friede. The boss roster is just too good. In Elden Ring, I can’t say the same about the bosses. The bosses are lame with the exception of Morgott, Placidusax, Mohg, Malenia, Radahn, Hoarah Loux, and, my personal favorite, Maliketh. Everything else felt kind of mediocre, especially seeing Astel, who I originally liked, get ruined by there being another variant for no reason. That boss reuse really ruined the uniqueness of it. Anyway, the boss roster just isn’t as good as DS3 and that takes precedence for me. Everything else about ER does seem better though, in terms of level design, visuals, build variety, QoL. If Elden Ring had better bosses it would’ve been my favorite souls game by far. Also had to say this, the major thing for me was how annoying some of the Elden Ring bosses are. No boss in DS3 do I find really annoying. But in Elden Ring? Fire Giant is one of the worst fights ever. Elden Beast is awful and completely ruined the great fight right before with Radagon. I genuinely dread fighting Fire Giant and Elden Beast because they are the most boring fights when using under leveled builds. Fortissax being locked behind the quest line of one of the most annoying NPCs in the whole entire game is dumb. Missed that my first playthrough because I killed Fia since I didn’t like her.
@JoseViktor4099Ай бұрын
@@WinterFlare Yes, I could see it, however with the implementation of SotE appeared very cool boss fights, although some of them are more stinkers than others. Messmer, is impressive, should had been the final boss fight imo, and honestly as the same level of quality as Gael peron. The final boss...oof, is rough, clearly needs a visual nerf because is not looking good. But well, the ratio of ER boss fight which I like has increased, which im glad of. DS3, there are fights I really like, but others are more hot takes to say im not a fan of, like Yhorm or Midir, and Cursed Rotten Greatwood is the only fight I could really say is awful in my book. And I see him as a lesser scale Elden Ring but with (much) better final bosses and overall boss consistency. But on the other hand, I like a lot how ER boss fights works , much more than on DS3, so im a bit mixed honestly

It's the opposite for me lol. I can't, for the life of me, get properly used to DS combat even before Sekiro's release. Especially the dodge roll, it feels heavy and clunky, something that I felt even in Elden Ring with medium load build. Sekiro on the other hand, after few hours of the game, everything just clicks. Combat feels free-flowing and natural, dodge is snappy, parry is quick and tight, level design is much better, and jump takedown is something I wish is in Elden Ring.
@Seitenwerk2 жыл бұрын
@@ZX3000GT1 I agree. Elden Ring is a masterpiece, but Sekiro, especially in its dynamic combat, still feels much better, direct and skill based. Even in Elden Ring you occasionally feel like you just lost because an enemy or animation just clipped, stuck or something cumbersome bad luck thing happened which makes you loose. In Sekiro on the other hand, everything felt much more clear and direct. And the combat there still remains on the top

@@reinhardt3090 You aren't looking at the bigger picture. The devs designed the game just right, they knew players would always ultimately find a way to cheese bosses. They don't bother to restrict these players, and even give them the tools to do what they want. Why? Because they also know, that there are many other players out there, who don't cheese bosses, they pick up a wooden spoon and some buttrags and they complete the game without getting hit once. The game is catered towards both sorts of players, and there's no judgements held against either. That is where the true balance lies. That is why the game is such a work of art. The game can be enjoyed by the player in anyway they want, if they want a challenge, they can get one, if they want a nice easy stroll through a beautiful story, they can have that instead. It's down to the player. I have an 80 int build, I have comet azure, I don't ever use it though, nor do I summon any spirits, because I want the challenge, that challenge isn't for everyone. The devs didn't cave, they made a high IQ move.

Elden ring is a masterpiece
@snkybrki2 жыл бұрын
@@votpavel It's NOT a masterpiece. All the Dark Souls-type games get circlejerled for the first few months post release, even DS 2. Its world is largely nonlinear, which is neat, but loot you get is largely worthless. In Dark Souls, you're hyped to find loot in the environment, but in ER there's a 90% chance it's some crafting item you already have 50 of. The faith balancing sucks ass. Do NOT run a Faith build until mid-late game, because you're given fuck-all for it. Then it becomes broken. Sorcery is just worse than incantations mid-late game, making it depressing to run for any significant amount of time. Balancing is also pretty obviously supposed to be co-op when you get past the first main area, so if ur a solo guy, you're going to be punching upwards. There's a lot more, but I'll digress on that for now. Basically, if you've enjoyed the previous Souls games, but don't mind a blender environment, then you'll probably like ER. It is essentially just Dark Souls 4. Not a masterpiece, but a fairly good game.

@retro_hp55422 жыл бұрын
Ego is a bit of a stretch. Some “souls players” wear this game like a badge (typically the loud ones that aren’t even that good at it). Most people I play with are just happy to not have to play a game with micro transactions and premium currency and pieces of the story removed only to be sold to us later. Games like assassins creed and destiny and call of duty and GTA all embody the worst things about current gaming. Souls games are a nice break from that. This video looks more like someone who has been fed bullshit for a long time and just put up with it because it’s the standard… and then something emerges with a new take on an old formula and it feels good to experience it. Or something like that….
@Unethical.Dodgson2 жыл бұрын
@@retro_hp5542 I agree with you in part though I think you went way too hyperbolic with some of your statements. Ultimately. I am happy that this game is, in fact, just a game. Doesn't feel like it was watered down or has unnecessary extra BS thrown at you to take money from you. That said. I really do like Souls games and this game just doesn't really do it for me so much. Perhaps I'm just ready to move on from the Genre or perhaps I can't help but remember everything wrong with DS3... I appreciate it as a game but I honestly think if this game were released by a new developer with no ties to Dark Souls at all... It wouldn't be as highly praised as it is. It's an alright game. Some people seem to be taking the FromSoft hype a little far, though.
@retro_hp55422 жыл бұрын
@@Unethical.Dodgson okay there was no hyperbole besides the end of my statement which was an obvious joke. If any other studio worked on this game it wouldn’t be a 60 dollar game and it wouldn’t be as good. And From soft hype? The reason people are hyped is because we knew that we would finally get something that wasn’t one of these wallet traps. All of my friends playing elden ring right now are not playing because elden ring is the best game ever… they are playing because everything else is the worst. So the “hype” of elden ring is pretty understandable considering my alternatives are all pretty fucking bad. Or overpriced. Actually both.
