I had a boss that was like this a LOT. She never actually asked about anything specific, it was always "Can you tell me what happened today?" etc. I caught on after the first time it happened to me, so the next time I just said "No? Not really... you'll need to get the ball rolling on this cause I'm drawing a blank." Time after that I went on this huge long winding story that I *knew* wasn't what she was asking about, but I still told it anyway to see how long it took for her to interrupt.

Someone I used to work for: 'You don't see me taking off on holidays, I don't just get to leave', disregarding the fact that I submitted my leave a month and a half before, and watched half the workplace walk into the assistant manager's office the week I was supposed to go and have their leave approved that day or within the week.

They could never acknowledge hypocrisy lol. My boss lectured me on deciding to wait to put in work notes til I got home instead of staying even later. It was Friday and I was already kept 40 minutes late at the office largely because (here’s the extra rich part about this) I helped throw her a party to celebrate her wedding. Told me how it doesn’t matter that I use transit to get home (have no car, not paid enough to buy one) and that by deciding to put my notes in at home on a Friday I was making my transit her problem. Keep in mind others do this everyday, and regulation-wise and policy-wise it’s fine. My job is 100% client-facing and 100% in office. Meanwhile, my boss regularly shows up 1-3 hours after we open when she doesn’t work from home, and works from home more often than not. She also always leaves between 3-5; she never waits for our office to actually close.

I had a college professor JUST like this - it was a small class and he told us he was "our boss", so it counts. The condescending body language, the convoluted riddle questions that take 450% longer than just plain communication, the double standards, the catastrophizing "it's going to be a nightmare, it's going to be chaos". Even the way he holds career advancement over peoples' heads for his own petty self-determined reasons. Honestly, it's so accurate that it made me shiver like I was back in the room with him. That’s how I deal with my boss at work. When I receive a curt, hostile email from them, I immediately reply with “message received” and avoid them until I feel the need to have a private conversation with them about my concerns. Given that they have zero interpersonal skills, they just send a Calendar invite for that meeting-which conveniently is during the tome I’m supposed to take my duty free lunch.

Me and you dude. I can deal with a lot because I genuinely do want to be patient and loving with people I haven’t had an easy upbringing so I love people. As soon as corporate bullshit like this pops up and they constantly try to gas light me I always have a ton of prove on my phone and if they continue to do it I’ll start fighting back. Life’s too short to deal with red tape corporate bullshit.

This video is so accurately true. It demonstrates how many unqualified people that are out there across the world in management roles. They don’t belong in those jobs and need to be demoted or fired themselves. They got into those roles either by lying or being in the inner circle with the big boss above them.

You know what. This is the most slappable character. Sure the others are pigs & losers, misogynists & gaslighting emotional abusers, but THIS GUY....I'd be fantasising a more gruesome death for him everyday. I know because I've worked for many of these guys. It gets quite graphic. I also rehearse how I'd tear strips off him on the day I quit. I play both parts and it's VERY dramatic.

Oh man. That ending especially got me. I work at a Hilton doing night audit, been doing it for 1 1/2 years. I mostly love what I do, and have no desire to "move up". Just wanna do what I do and do it well. For a few months after first starting I heard this "I wanna see you move up" line way too much and eventually told my general manager in the least lazy looking way I could think of that I was fine where I was and want to keep doing what I'm doing, if I need to do things differently or better then please let me know, but otherwise I am totally fine with being your night auditor.

This guy's such a good actor. 12 seconds in, the guy hasn't even said what he wants yet, and I'm already brimming with rage. The finger beckon, stopping a conversation to talk to someone else (and acting annoyed as if it's the employee's fault), talking to Irene like she's a child, and the fact that he doesn't even order his own lunch. It paints such a vivid picture, and makes me feel such strong emotions lol

Hey new character idea: I used to work with this dude who thought he was the boss of everyone because he used to be a Walmart manager. He would harass and bully people while talking about how amazing he is and how the place would crash down without him (it was perfectly fine) eventually he got fired and that was when he decided he was actually already looking for another job the whole time 😂 total narcissist basically and he’d always talk about how he hated his stepson and how he needs a beating lmfao Not sure how many ppl out there fit that kinda description but I can’t be the only one to have dealt with that kinda dude

Not corporate, but I had a shitty retail job. Told them well in advance I needed Black Friday off. They told me no one takes it off. I told them I would quit if they didnt. They yielded, I got off, and my colleagues were pissed but the company couldnt afford to lose me. Later quit to go to Med School. They basically begged me to stay or "come in and work a couple days a month." I had made it clear I was moving to another country (Caribbean Med School) so I was really confused how they pictured that working lol. They treated their staff like crap.

@abba9265 they weren't mad at me as much as mad at management. Many of them had requested less important times off and been rejected. It wasn't the only event like that either. At one point they changed commission saying it would pay the same. I did the math and sent them an email showing that's not true... that give our sales we would be making significantly less. They offered me a promotion. I turned it down because it wasn't worth it and near the time I was going to quit anyways.
