NB all, the SharePoint List doesn't work (or at least it doesn't for many of us) but that's OK - it's just a demo and that table is never used. Don't waste your time on trying; just watch the video and see how you would be able to connect to your own SharePoint Lists, if you have access to such things. And a lot of people are asking about Day 4: it follows on from Day 3 IN THIS VIDEO. See the timestamp for "Introduction" at 1:23:40. I'd like to express my thanks for this great set of tutorial videos. Not exactly up-to-date as regards the UI (I'm watching in August 2021), but if you look for things carefully, it's not too different. Power BI is very much a moving target!

One other suggestion for those of you watching this tutorial. When Chelsea says to remove items from the fields area BEFORE moving on to next topic, simply create a blank/duplicate page. That way you will keep all the information that you can later use when you are dealing with your data. Anyway, wish I would have done that, but now I'm finished with the tutorial.

At 52:00, shouldn't formula be opposite? like current month - prev month / current month? That will give us positive or negative growth as compared to prev month

I think (current month - Prev month)/(Prev month) if you want to see the grow or loss from previous sales.

Amazing tutorial! I solved the problem that puzzled me for weeks by watching this video very thoroughly. While I noticed at 1:49:10, the % Total Sales of Parent Category is actually the % of Total Sales negating all categories not the % of Parent Category (Audio; Camera and camcorders; Cell phones). Not sure if I misunderstood anywhere...

This is the best course I've ever found on this. Thank you so much for sharing. Question though. When making the dates table, I typically list the dates, then in the data model. I think that option taxes the processor instead of the ram. Do you have an opinion which way is best? (Assuming you have 30 years of dates or something like that)

I think for 1:49:00, the %TotalSales is calculated against the sales of all categories, not just each parent category. Is there anyway to just calculate foreach category?, i.e. sum of % for each category is 100%

I’ve got one question, at 1:49, why do the results of the measure % TotalSales of Parent Category turn out to be percentages of total sales? Isn’t the measure TotalSales All ProductSubcategories supposed to keep filters in the Product table while negating all the filters in the ProductSubcategory table? For example, in the first row, it should be the total sales of Bluetooth Headphones divided by the total sales of Audio, since Audio has been filtered out before ALL(product subcategory) function is applied, and according to the order of operations, Product Category table is in a higher position. Please help me out...

AT 1:48 I believe the measure is incorrectly labeled. The percentage actually calculates against TOTAL SALES NOT the PARENT CATEGORY. If anyone else sees it this way, please let me know since I may be thinking about it wrong. Thanks.

Can you help me out with the average promo calculation and hi-low promo visual In most measures, you read the Dimension column and aggregate by the fact table. Product name > Fact Table > Total sales visual In this case your going Product> Totals Sales. and then you're reading the promo amount off of the Promotion table? it's very confusing because the only promotion data we have on the Fact Table is a Promo Key number and not a discount percentage. How are we aggregating data that's only on a dimension table?

It's ok. She doesn't use the data in the remaining parts of the video. So you and everyone else can continue with the tutorial. When I first hit the snag as you did, I contacted LearnIt to see if they could adjust the SharePoint permissions, but they said they couldn't. Then I continued to play the video and then found out the data wasn't going to be used.

Hi J! The link is an open link so there are not any security settings on our end blocking access. We definitely recommend checking if you have a limit on the download size for files on you computer as that is typically the main culprit.

Hi, for some reason all of my values in the tables are exactly the same. So for example TotalSalesMTD, all of the values underneath are the same. The value in the first row is $8,467,938,313.52 and in the second one it's also $8,467,938,313.52? I think there is something wrong with my TotalSales table or something. In the last video, we created the profit by year and month chart. I have reordered and sorted it out by MonthNum or Year&Month. Add a new column in the dates table, use metric : YEAR ABC = Dates[Year]*100 + Dates[MonthNum] , then go back to report and choose sorting by YEAR ABC
