Ah! The note at 5:50 about the appearance of shoulder protraction was super helpful.

Thanks! Yeah, I think it's an illusion.

Especially liked the protraction retraction part. You can BE in a protracted (or neutral) position, while RETRACTING when something is fighting against you.

I love the video! It puts into contexts some things I've seen and experienced, but didn't understand. Like being protracted, but retracting. Or why the body has a tendency to rotate limbs while moving them. Side note: the audio was perfect. I love the improvements you've made to your content.

I watched this at like 230am last week and finally remembered a clarifying question. Should one a) decide if the pendulum or windmill is more comfortable and stick with one on all BH throws, or b) go more overhand on anhyzer releases and pendulum on hyzer releases? My tendency is to over think and get brain fried.

Wait, so I feel like perhaps I'm having an aha moment right now. It's late at night so I can't go out and test this with a disc just yet, but just doing shadow swings I feel way more of a connection with my lat and the rest of my back when reaching back internally rotated. I think I've just taken it for granted that briefcasing the disc is the correct way to do it for everyone and I just feel like I struggle with just throwing it into the ground a lot. This might just be me misunderstanding my actual issues, shadow swings can't replace actually throwing a disc. But it would be incredible if this ended up making a difference, considering how uncomfortable it is for me to attempt for a briefcase reach back. I feel like it makes it really easy to shrug my shoulder while pulling through. I've also leaned in heavily to the school of thought of keeping the shoulder protracted throughout the throw, because I think someone told me one time that I was t-rexing my throw when I was asking for form advice. Long comment short, incredibly interesting video, love your work, keep it up!

Do you favor uppercut or jab in general? Like for someone that isn’t doing either particularly well
@seabas2216 күн бұрын
Missed reading the last part there... Yeah I would tend to favor the uppercut. There could also be mobility issues moving into either ER or IR shoulder rotation.

@seabas22 howdy partner! A lot to like here and a very good discussion reconciling "swing" and "pull" verbiage IMHO
