A reminder that the news arm of the BBC has unaddressed institutional transphobia. You probably know all about this but here are some links if you need a refresher: . Council of Geeks has videos on the issue, here is one: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qZzLaWSEatGWj7s . Shaun has done several videos, here is the latest: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aXeaeIpth9RnhbM . Laura Kate Dale's speech outside the BBC: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nnPNeKGNoNx0oKs

The first regeneration is so last minute and abrupt - and we know now Tenth Planet wasn't originally intended to be a regeneration story - that you can't help wondering that Hartnell blotted his copybook badly on location for the Smugglers and became so unforgivable that the BBC felt it had no alternative. They had contemplated changing Hartnell before during Celestial Toymaker but had ridden it out in the theory of "better the devil you know." Hartnell had even planned ahead for vacation breaks further along in season 4. You'd think such a momentous decision as changing the lead of such an important show would have been the results of many months careful planning, instead of being so abrupt.

I still maintain that power is one of the absolute best depictions of the Daleks in the show, with its only serious competition being Dalek (2005). I go back and forward on which story gets the daleks right the most, but both are sensational portrayals.

I think this story is the first time we get a good look at the Dalek mutant after getting a small glimpse of one in The Daleks

The thing about the Doctor sending troops to stall for time against the Daleks is something I always found interesting. Obviously, he values life. But the reason he might have been less tact about it was because all of this could have been prevented if they just listened to either him or their own common sense. Think about it. You're gonna immediately put these "Daleks" to work when you have no idea where they came from? I get that the colony was struggling, but that ain't a criticism. It's genius. It's how people are like in real life. They only see what they want. I love your take on the Cybermen too because you put them into words that I couldn't. They are Fuastian in that way. Like how I consider the Daleks to be so warped in their thinking like some lovecraftian horror, scaled down to our level. We'll never be on the same page and that to me, is terrifying because who knows what else is out there? How different are they in terms of psychology? "Why do Human beings kill human beings?" This is my favorite Dalek Line, ever. I'm glad someone took the time to make a video about it. You pretty much summed up my thoughts on what I think about regarding them.

The opening episode of trying to open the capsule reminded me of the Quatermass Experiment...though that may be a bit of a stretch, lol.

interesting! i love the original animation so much more than the 'improved' one... i do not understand why everyone loves the 2nd one more. i rly love the nonverbal communication the doccy does with the recorder. Troughton with the recorder is my favourite thing he does. It is on a level with Jodie's face scrunches

Dalek Law is to exterminate and kill anything that isn't a pure Dalek, after all the daleks will kill their own if they believe the other dalek isn't pure. Daleks are the perfect Fascist

Power is great, I personally prefer Evil though, it has stronger characters and The humanised Daleks are an amazing concept. I see the Cybermen as a representation of a flaw in many political philosophies, including Capitalism and Communism - That everything is a resource, including human lives and that they should be 'spent' in the most efficient and effective way possible. Not the biggest fan of the revivals interpretation of being only care about conversion, and are ultimately robots that use a brain as a CPU - It feels like they took a surface level interpretation of Spare Parts and never really deviated from it. The writers should dare to make them more then a worse version of the Borg.
