Like the Cybermen (in my opinion), the Daleks were never creepier than their original appearance. Also, props to Murray Gold's score from Stolen Earth, it really makes you feel the dread that the rest of the characters are feeling.

Nice video, I would be up for seeing a cybermen one at some point. I wouldn't particularly say I love it but its definitely far from a bad story. I suppose what gives me a certain fondness for it is that it is the one episode which has the Peter Capaldi Doctor I wanted.

My only issue with Dalek is the spoilers. They play off the Dalek like a huge surprise but, the episode is literally called Dalek, not only that, the Dalek was in World War Three's Next Time trailer.

I agree on most of this with, just a few disagreements. The big one is Daleks in Manhatten/Evolution of the Daleks, I love that one man. I know it's the same idea as Evil, but it's a totally different story other than the revolt at the end (2 in evolution) and I love it, each to their own though. Also, saw your comment, I really like Asylum as well. And I'd also add that I think The Daleks is fantastic as you say, but would have been better as 6 or, at a push, 5 parter. Love it to death but I just think it's an episode too long. Other than that, I totally agree with this.

Glad we mostly agree! You'll never convince me on Manhatten or Asylum I'm afraid, they're both very poorly written in my opinion. Too many contrivances in both stories and the Daleks are so out of character in Asylum.

S- Power, remembrance (My personal favorites), genesis, evil, dalek, bad wolf/Parting of the ways A-The daleks, revalation, ressurection Stolen earth and journeys end B-Army of ghosts/doomsday, death, C-Planet, Day of the daleks resolution, DMP(I have a love hate relationship with Master plan) D-Victory(Ironsides were cool though) daleks in Manhattan, into the dalek E-Magicians apprentice and witches familiar, Destiny (destiny just needed better direction and MUCH better production design) F- Asylum. Agree RE Destiny of the Daleks. It was the last non-missing Dalek story from the classic series I watched (fourteen year old me "Oh goody, I've still got one more Dalek caper), and I don't think I ever came away from a Dalek story more disappointed. There might be technically worse ones in New Who, but I didn't feel as deflated after watching them (possibly because Destiny had already given me the treatment. Also, it marked the Dalek's subordination to Davros. Ok, that happened in Genesis, but it was an origin story. We wouldn't see the Daleks properly scheming again for years...

Rememberance doesn't just have great action it also has great dialogue and plot. Definitely one of the all time great Who stories

Currently too inebriated to offer an accurate ranking and/or assortment of Dalek stories but I'll say that on mine, Remembrance would be above Revelation (or at least on the same level) and Evil is an A minimum. That and Power are Grade A Who and Genesis is a masterpiece of Davrossing and Resolution can suck my polycarbide whisk.

Some miscellaneous thoughts whilst watching. Magician's Apprentice/Witches Familiar deserves an F. It's really, really bad. Stolen Earth is pretty good, but I strongly dislike Journey's End. The Meta Crisis fake-out Regeneration ruins the concept of Regeneration and the Daleks are destroyed by button pushing. Excuse me, how dare you put Remembrance of the GODTIER Daleks in the C column! HOW DARE YOU LORD SLUG!!! Also, where is Asylum of the Daleks? I know it's naff, but it still needs to be placed on the list. Also, Bad Wolf/Parting of the Ways? See, I'm kinda like how you are with Remembrance with Revelation, I find Revelation a bit boring. Granted, it's been a while since I've seen it, but I remember that the Doctor doesn't do a whole lot in Part 1 and it's mostly just some random side characters who I couldn't care about do stuff and dying. The best part was Davros and even he doesn't do much cause he's a head for most of it.

I will defend Army of Ghosts and Doomsday on one point, and that being that the Cybermen in those episodes really don't have any reason to be able to defeat post-Time War Daleks. The Cybermen in that episode had only really needed weapons that could kill humans, and the energy weapons the Preachers had only really needed to kill Cybermen which don't have shields like the Daleks did. It's really a very advanced variant of Dalek vs a very primitive variant of Cybermen which would obviously result in the Daleks kerbstomping them.

Lore-wise that makes sense but in terms of spectacle it makes it very unsatisfying. This was a crossover people had wanted for a very long time after all.

@@LordSlarr I think for that spectacle to have been achieved, they would have needed to bring back the Classic Cybermen and show how they've evolved since the Time War rather than resetting them from zero. Or have had more stories with the new Cybermen where they end up crossing over into our world, become more of an interstellar force, and build up their technology to the point where they'd realistically be a threat to the Daleks, before then having the Daleks and the Cybermen meet. I do agree by the way that the Cybermen were mishandled. EDIT: I just realised, even the Sontarans would probably defeated the Cybermen in Army of Ghosts and Doomsday... in fact, the Sontarans would probably have put up a better fight against the Daleks than the Cybermen did.

Haven't seen DMP so: S- Dalek, ressurection A- genisis, remembrance B- doomsday, the chase C- evil, power(cant get into the animation), revelation, mission to the unknown D- destiny, daleks in Manhattan, journeys end, the daleks E- victory, daleks invasion of earth, into the daleks, death to the daleks, day of the daleks, planet of the daleks and resoultion F- witchs familiar, asylum of the daleks Lots of the RTD stuff are functional so cant be called terrible, plus I've got a bit of nostalgia from the fact I was 6 for the last one, so they get a pass whereas classic is a bit harsher mainly because they can drag For daleks invasion of earth I really dislike the sound design, its hard to hear what characters are saying.

It looks like we agree on a lot! I watched Power Of The Daleks first as a reconstruction before the animation and I think the atmosphere is a little better in the recon. I just wish we had the original prints!

@@LordSlarr in the corridors people would constantly say "look it's a dalek" then that would be followed by a shot of a dalek coming round the corner but at the start of the shot no sign of a dalek can be seen, so the character couldn't have seen it, its the same for the scene where sarah shots look the doctors coming but it's about 3 seconds later he emerges from the corner
