Impressive! I like the 150lb manual torque. That is the way I would use it. I liked that you tried the “run up” to loosen or tighten fasteners. You just are not going to get full torque on these tools without the motor up to speed imho. Well done and thanks for sharing!

I think overall Skil does have great tools but…… Being that they are Chervon I have to wonder how much the line will expand. They launched in Nov. 2019 but it took them well over a year to get into Lowes. Chevon owns Flex and I think that is there focus right now, They also make the Kobalt tools… Another brand that seems to be stuck and lacks the range of the brand by TTI (Milwaukee, Ryobi, Rigd and even Hart are expanding). Skill needs a 12v hammer drill OR a combo 20v/12v charger so you can get the 20v tools for the power but then get 12v tools to fill in. Also the 12v tools kits are a great price, but not so much on the 20v line. And finally, let’s see what Chervon and Lowe’s does with Skil (and Flex and Kobalt) for Memorial Day and Father’s Day deal… So far it’s a big zip!
@Shoptoolreviews3 жыл бұрын
You are correct with Chervon owning SKIL, FLEX, and EGO. There was a lot of concern at the time with EGO being sold at HD, with SKIL (and Kobalt) positioned in Lowes. Also, I'm sure at that time, they probably had a good idea of what they wanted to do with the FLEX brand as well. Once they pulled the EGO brand from HD and made it available at Lowes, then everything started to align. The SKIL brand is positioned for DIY and entry-level Pro, while FLEX is the Pro brand. Kobalt, of course is the in-house brand for Lowes. That positioning is not bad and it's much like TTi (Milwaukee, Ridgid, Ryobi). We're more interested in seeing what is going to happen with Craftsman, Metabo, and other brands that continue to fill the space at Lowes as well. We did expect to see a larger presence of FLEX tools at Lowes by now. Time will tell. All speculation, of course. Thanks for watching.
@FunAtDisney3 жыл бұрын
@@Shoptoolreviews Thanks for the reply and your videos! Great point on Craftsman. We’ve seen how Stanley-B&D have squandered away the iconic Porter-Cable brand, and ironically have left Black&Decker to languish. Then with Craftsman there was the huge push a couple years ago and now we are left with red-colored, re-branded mid-level DeWalt tools and a line that has not expanded at all. And to DeWalt, not much innovation when compared to Milwaukee and TTI brands this past year or so. Personally I think Craftsman should be the main Lowe’s hand-tool brand and drop the power tools, and they should take Black & Decker tools and align with Target as their “house” brand as TTI did with Hart and Walmart.

@@spraguefamilyfarm Yes I did see that - thank you! Not sure the 12v would work for me. Shop Tool Reviews has a good review of the Skil ratchet for those interested. Personally I prefer a good old fashion speed wrench. It's faster and easier to accesses tight spots with the proper extensions and wobbles not to mention the amount of "nut busting" torque it delivers is limited only by ones own strength. Cordless power ratchets are just a tool in search of a problem, heck if there was a need for a powered ratchet there would have been corded ones a hundred years ago.
@bumponlog2 жыл бұрын
Did they have corded power tools in 1921? And do you use wood drill braces instead of drills then? Powered ratchets have been around way before battery powered ratchets as pneumatic powered ratchets.
