I also agree that Ricky has one of the best forms out there. I think that Ricky himself explained in one video that he is aiming to minimalize moving parts in his arm. This analysis really backs that up. Good job with analysis and please keep them coming ☺!

I've only been playing for 8 months or so, but my progress is such that I can almost always get to a position to putt for par or birdie. But I miss so many putts. This is the most critical shot in disc golf, even if it's not the most sexy. By one year in, I'd like to be a confident putter at 32 feet. Coach Doc, I'm gonna propel my putting to new heights with your videos and images! That's the goal. Love your style.

Excellent analysis. I agree that a good putt has fewer moving parts. It would seem that I have been making the mistake of moving the body with the arm. I must try this.

The concept of the disc leading the arm is basic GENIUS (like basic patent) . As a master of self sabotage, I can tell you that convincing my arm that it is supposed to be working for me is a constant challenge. But, through the application of your brilliant suggestions, I am learning to "play" the game with newfound Joy. Thanks Doc.

Thanks. I just try to create imagery to make ot easier to think what to do. Hope this helps!

This was really cool. I'd love to see more of these from other players. I think there is value in being able to putt from, say, 50' out without throwing because then 30' and in should be smoother. McBeth is another one who seems to get good distance without a significant change in form and does not appear to be spin putting like Eagle, Isaac, AB, etc. There is not a lot of discussion about longer putting. The focus is always on inside the circle. I recognize the importance, but would love to see some discussion on how to improve my longer putts. Jump putts included. I'm awful. I get the concept, but something isn't clicking! Love the channel and your discussions. Thank you :)

I’m no pro (1yr / Mostly wooded courses / RHFH player here) but I’m starting to notice that anything within 50-100ft is like shaping your shot at the tee pad. Practice putting inside C1 but anything outside that, practice laying it up for a parked job (take your par/bogey and not make it a double bogey) of course but you’ll get to see your putter flight the same way your fairway/distance driver does. Just my .02.
@dwmichaels Жыл бұрын
@@NWKastaways That's solid advice for sure. At some point though, you need to be able to make putts from C2. It's just like distance. If you can throw/putt farther, then shorter throws will be easier to reach and you can focus on accuracy. There is not much discussion/teaching about C2 putting because C1 is by far the best bang for your buck. But C1 is easy to practice yourself. Outside C1, you need to improve form to get better. :)

Yes please! The less I think about the arm, the better the disc flies. Amazing but true. Just push the body towards the basket and see what happens.

You have to very careful with the timing. If the body gets too far ahead of the arm the disc will come out nose down and short, like you'll notice most of Ricky's misses do. I've found it most useful for me to feel like all parts of my body are moving forward at the same time.
