Jaani, I have a tendency to keep my legs to close together when going into the bracing position. What type of issues would this create?

At least poorer balance, and possible more rushed coil back.

I usually always walk over to my disc thinking I’m just going layup if it’s long C1 or beyond. But usually I can’t resist going for it once I’m at the disc looking at the basket. It’s actually a nice way to not psyche myself out walking over to the disc. It feels more like “I want to do this” rather than “I am obligated to try this”

I really like the way you compared learning the backhand to learning how to play the piano. Learn the right hand muscle memory. Then learn the left hand. I took piano lessons for seven years, and then quit. Tried to pick it up when I was 20. I was amazed at how much I had forgotten. Again I gave up. Now I’m 72 and learning theory all over again. Thanks for your coaching.😎🥏

@dgspindoctor13 күн бұрын
Follow through eli se, kun käsivarsi lähtee menemään kehon ympäri. Ei sitä silti "vedetä takaisin".
@RBadding13 күн бұрын
@@dgspindoctor Ei.

Hi! Really good video ☺️ I have a problem with what to think of when coiling. If I should push my right shoulder forward, left shoulder back, tighten the core or push back my hips a little. Can you help my with this?
@dgspindoctorАй бұрын
Thanks! Good question. I say, rotate the trunk so that your shoulders are fully turned. I wouldn't even think about the hips, since you don't want to rotate the hips. The hips may have to rotate WITH the shoulders, if your mobility sucks like mine, but otherwise it's really about the shoulders and not the hips.

Wanted to come back and comment on this after I had an awesome throw session, incorporating this tip late into the session. I've always been able to curl my wrist quite comfortably. I use a three finger power grip (back loaded). But adding the thumb/meaty part of the hand deep into the flight plate feels weird at first, but I found it much easier to get into a deep pocket and have the disc rip off my hand! It felt more like the disc rolling off my three fingers and created massive spin! Finished my session with a 149m backhand with a Big Z nuke which is my longest throw to date. Had a number of throws between the 120 and 149m mark which is great and look forward to getting more distance with this technique amongst others! Thanks again mate!

Love your content. I think my problem is I’m pulling through hard with my shoulder, it is hurting pretty bad. I believe you covered this topic before. I just cannot seem to find the exact video.
@dgspindoctorАй бұрын
Sorry to hear that. There might be multiple reasons, for example dipping the elbow and rotating the shoulder externally, or you might be, as you said, pulling the shoulder which means your scapula pushes up and back. Strengthen the shoulder stability, and when you throw, try to make a bigger arch with the elbow. Good luck!

While I agree with the body positioning ("swaying"/"levering"/"toppling" forward is SLOOW) I can easily transfer 95% weight by simply dropping the back knee and its fairly fast if it is preturned. This accomodates my chunky self in regards to my hipmobility which brings me to an alternate explanation for the extended back leg of "ego" and "lizard": better angle for the back leg to act as a counterweight AND they have enough hipmobility in reserve to make reactive adjustments to their posture to tune in the finish of their throw.
@dgspindoctorАй бұрын
If you feel so, who am I to argue against back leg stuff.
@Flakzor123Ай бұрын
@@dgspindoctor you are the spin doctor obviously! =) But well it's more the case of a "backleg assist" in getting everything to the front especially since I prefer more of a brinster hop instead of a normal x-step and really the last 5% shifts a fraction of a second later when I pick the foot up and my heavy leg wants to pendulum forward towards my brace taking the hip with it.
@dgspindoctorАй бұрын
@@Flakzor123 If you prefer it that way, then by all means, keep doing it. But I have to say, when asked, I won't teach that. But again, to each their own.

@@dgspindoctor the best answer possible! Everyone should teach according to their preferred method. We need more of that online to be honest. It's not really an issue in discgolf (yet) but the fitness sphere is infested with people latching on to trends in order to milk them =)

Love what you do. I’m starting to make my 270 foot throws to 325 foot throws with no extra effort. All timing. On my step back, I’m on my toes and I reach back at that point. It forces me to reach back quickly so I can explode when my right foot plants on the ground.
