Low C is actually one of the easier Low notes to crank on, I’ve been playing a shoddy Tuba Exchange horn and it’s very hard to crank on lower notes, but working at it and physically work ON my horn has helped me learn how to sacc and crank all the notes I need to play! KEEP WORKING AT IT!!! Also try and find a new mouthpiece that feels right! I played with a Vincent Bach but now I play with a Tuba Exchange model Rose 18, it’s all about how it feels for YOU. Also breathe from your diaphragm, relax your shoulders, and you will be able to crank easier. Hold long tones and lower notes to improve the quality of air you use! SOUNDS VERY COOL

Pay attention to tuba players that sound like what you want to sound like. Some excellent tuba sections to listen to are Norfolk State "Bodacious Basses", Virginia State "Horsepower", Jackson State "Dawg Team", and Bethune Cookman University's "Da Rock". Also, as someone who God's brought up from $100 ish horns to a fully custom setup, a better horn and mouthpiece are KEY to getting better and playing with less effort. Mike Finn and Schilke mouthpieces are nice, and Yamaha 411s are the best Sousa you can get rn for tone, having less resistance in the horn and power. *ONLY INVEST in better gear if you ENJOY playing your horn* It makes no sense to get a $10,000 horn if you hate playing it, you feel me

for low notes, loosen up a bit and do longtones. trust me. start with Bb and C. for pedals that go below low A and Ab, put ur bottom lip on the botton rim of the mouthpiece and flap ur top lip. u can also put ur jaw foward . works best if u use con bits. use it diaphram and open ur lower larynx. 💪💪💪 u got dis ma nigga
