I lived in LA in the 80's-90's, we had a Peter Pipers Pizza. They advertised that the actual cast of the Power Rangers were gonna be there one night. They didn't really anticipate the amount of people that'd want to take their kids to see them, this was at the height of their popularity, too. It was chaos lmao. There were so many people everyone was spilling out into the parking lot. Once the "Rangers" came out everyone lost their shit. The Red Rangers helmet falls off revealing he's some random black dude. Then everyone REALLY loses their shit. The fire department had to come, cops were called, people were pissed and all over the damn place. Shit was hilarious

The other more probable story is that the suit was damaged during shooting, and Toei didn't want to spend the money to make a new suit, so they just re-used the pre-existing footage for the Leopardon fights.
