Is there some kind of legality running carbon fiber reeds? And as always great great videos!!!
@PowerRepublic5 жыл бұрын
certain models have carbon, others have kevlar and some have both and you can choose. it depends on the engine and the rules. with one make class racing which is most kart is, yes there are rules with using OEM parts

how would you be able to tell they have failed whilst driving? do you suddenly lose power?
@PowerRepublic Жыл бұрын
Yeah cause the carny will run super rich 🤑
@PowerRepublic Жыл бұрын
And the engine won’t re start normally cause the carb doesn’t pump properly

Is it advisable to use a small touch of Loctite on the 4 screws securing the reeds incase the screw(s) come loose and end up damaging the engine?
@PowerRepublic5 жыл бұрын
brian jackson you can if you like, but I have enough trouble undoing the screws without loctite. So far so good on them coming loose in between service intervals

Power Republic Thanks for reply, many thanks 👍

I have been told no light should shine through a good reed pack. If so, how do you remedy that?
@PowerRepublic Жыл бұрын
if your reed cage is damaged and the reed don't seal, but a new one as you can't repair the standard ones in the rules. if it is for recreation I would bother cause it barely effects the performance unless it is really bad, then change it over for a new one
@chrisburnsed63495 жыл бұрын
At what point do you change them?
@PowerRepublic5 жыл бұрын
Hopefully before they break.... but seriously you can change them every 20-30 hours as a precaution. I'm not sure of their actual life span so prevention is better than cure in this instance.

Power Republic, perfect thanks.

Hi what sort of fault would you get if the Reed valves are damaged ? Thanks for the video
@PowerRepublic2 жыл бұрын
Hey Billy, you are very welcome and thank you for tuning in and sharing the videos. Nothing much, the engine normally just runs really rough and mostly likely over rich fuel mixture. just change them out with some new ones and you are good to go!

Thanks for replying so quick. The reason I ask is we have two x30 karts one absolutely flys and the other is nowhere near as quick. I don’t think there’s a restrictor on it and as we are new to it we’re trying to get all the info on them as we can. We’ve serviced the carb and changed the plug do u have any recommendations thanks again !

How do rocks go through an airfilter, then through a carb????
@PowerRepublic4 жыл бұрын
Not sure on that, but the reeds can fail or crack from vibration instead of impact form foreign objects
