Great informative video sir ! Also I noticed the WURTH product you use . It may be a little more expensive to buy but is sooo much better than most , Thanks for the info .

Everything went just like your video except I did not tighten the inlet tube enough and the carb was flooding. Tightened it to where i did not see threads above the carb body and it was great.

Follow up on my carb I put the stiffest spring I have checked the pop-off and I can only get it up to 12 psi but it don't pop and it holds at 12 and it kinda runs and still dumps fuel out of the carb same as had been ?

How do you go about changing the pressure if not at 8 and 10lbs? Also, what does changing the angle of the lever do? Thanks!
@PowerRepublic
@PowerRepublic 6 жыл бұрын
Hi Matt, you need to remove the small flat blade screw head from the carb body that holds down the the roll pin for the lever and spring. Then you can stretch the spring or cut off two coils to change it's tension depending if you want to go up or down in pop pressure. If you raise the lever angle you increase the float level so the air fuel mixture will be slightly richer right across the board, if you lower the lever angle you reduce the float level you lean out the air fuel mixture slightly.

Would you recommenced putting the disassembled carby in a ultrasonic cleaner to remove any small impurities each time as an extra step?

You can set them at 10psi. Otherwise play around with them. 8psi low, 10psi high.

higher pressure = leaner mixture lower pressure -= richer mature use a lambda sensor to log your AF ratio and the changes you make. then you should be able to ace your tune?

Can you tell in fully closed high and low jet,how many turns to open is optimal ?
@PowerRepublic
@PowerRepublic 4 жыл бұрын
Kaloyan Vuchkov i recommendation is for 60mins LSJ and 55mins HSJ for KA3. If I’m doubt the best bet is take it to your local engine shop with an engine Dyno and asked them to tune it for max power at full engine temp. Then get them to mark the carby with an engraving tool as your reference spot. Then you can fine tune your engine on track wish a Mychron lambda Sensor Kit. Where about do you live?

Hi! We are running the Iame waterswift 60cc with the Tillotson HW31A carb and have noticed that performance variations are quite big between different units. Example: this weekend we tested 4 different units, some better and some worse, and unfortunately we were not allowed to keep the one that was running the best (team mates favorite carb 🤷🏽‍♂️). In what ways can the performance of the HW31A carbs be legally optimized outside of the tuning the low/high jetting needles (we ran all carbs with the same settings and temp didn't vary more than max 2 celcius throughout the day)? Cheers and thanks for a great channel!!
@PowerRepublic

Hi Robert, most rules don't allow for 'modification's' per se, how ever you can change the jets, float height/lever position and spring pressure. where about do go racing ?
@robertkamperin4382
@robertkamperin4382 3 жыл бұрын
@@PowerRepublic we are racing in Spain and until now we have primarily used Rotax where the same thing applies (some carbs are garbage and some are good, then of course the settings come on top). Some good advice on float height, spring and similar things would be great to understand in addition to adjusting the high/low needle. 🙏

And how often do you service the carburetor?? Once a month? Once a year? Every 5 years?
@PowerRepublic
@PowerRepublic 5 жыл бұрын
We do ours before any important meetings just to be sure. Otherwise you can leave them for a month or two. The gaskets are effected from the petrol, so they will only run at 100% for a short time, even if the engine hours are not used up.

Thank you so much for the help, I watch your videos all the time.
