Could you please show how you hooked the wires up to the fuses and batterie

Great tip Chuck on the taping the wires to harness each component. I wish I had seen this sooner. The wiring under the dash in my 72 C10 looks likely a spaghetti dinner .

I've built several complete harnesses. All those wires can be a mess to keep up with. I have to break it up into sections by taping each circuit otherwise I'd go nuts!! LOL Thanks for dropping in! Have a great day!

Hey! I appreciate your videos! I’ve learned quite a bit about my YJ. One tip I’d like to share with you though... if you ever forget which wires are which when it comes to stereo speakers, you can connect them to a 9volt battery. It should create a noise that you can then use to find where your speaker wire is going!

I don't know how you got by so long without a radio! I drive around 40 miles round trip to work and music is a must for me. I got a very cheap Kenwood unit off eBay and I only have 2 speakers (mounted on the floor right in front of the shifters) but they're actually pretty decent. I got a soundbar from a junkyard that I've had sitting for almost a year now and your other video reminded me to work on mine lol

My drive was 35 miles one way. I just got used to not having it. Even now that its installed, I've only turned it on a few times. I'm not really crazy about the sound quality at the moment so it just annoys me more than anything. Once I get the rest of the equipment installed I'll like it better. I'm more excited about having an interior light than the music .. LOL. Goos seeing ya drop in man! Have a great day!

When you get time please do a vid on the YJ dash speakers. I've seen conflicting information on how to properly swap out the speakers. Thanks! - I see you mentioned this at the end of the vidjeo.

You are welcome! I'll be doing that here soon. The rear speakers don't sound bad but I do want better sound. So, I'll be putting in the front speakers soon. When the video is done I'll schedule it to release asap. Thanks and have a great day!!

I love your videos. I even watch the ones I don't even need help with. Can't even have enough jeep knowledge in the pocket. Still working on my softtop doors. Bending so slow. Hopefully will be easier when it's more than 60' outside ;)

Heck yeah! Got me the same radio at WalMart for $21, hooked it all up and speakers didn't work. Ended up being a bad unit, exchanged it at WalMart and everything works! Nice!

It's a decent little radio. I'll eventually start adding more speakers, amp and a sub for good quality sound. Thanks for dropping in! Have a great day!!

I had an idea watching this at 1:28 Slide the connecter on the wire like you do with shrink tubing when soldering. Fold both end like you did here. hook them together and maybe twist them a bit. Squeeze this mechanical connection to make to small enough to slide the connecter over and crimp. May be overkill but it was just a fleeting though.

I remember when I put a radio in my YJ. Got one with a removable face plate for theft protection. Worked great until one night I forgot to remove the face plate. Somebody stole the face plate!!

Twist the insulation as you pull it off the wire Makes a cleaner twist and you dont get the oil from your fingers on the wire. Also, I put a knot on the negative wire, kNot/Neg. Just my memory thingy to make it easier to remember which wire is which.

Hey, I know it’s been 3 years but have a dumb question question for you. I’m just getting into my 90 YJ and i have 6 speakers how would I go about setting up the other 4?

Did you cut the sides off of the mounting bracket? My mounting bracket is too narrow for the cage that came with the stereo to fit into it

I don't have a video on that. My suggestion would be to find a donor rig and pull all the parts at one time.

I have a hard time reaching those speakers that you have in the Jeep I want to put speakers in those places I do have a sound bar overhead but I do want to replace those speakers

It's just 4 screws per speaker. Pry the grill off, remove 4 screws. Take the old speaker out, then put the new ones in.

Strangely enough I need to do a new stereo in my 2000tj as the cd player wont play half my cd's and is only getting worse. In my case I wanted to add more functionality like a backup camera (for ease of hooking up a trailer mostly), and satnav (think it would be king of cool to not have to plug in my damn phone just to see where I might be all the time out on trails), and a few other things most Dinn2 systems can do that the stock dinn 1 that tj's come with cannot, The one vid I found on youtube that some guy did on a dinn2 conversion in his tj was pretty good...Right up till he got the the wiring...he was all detailed on everything you needed to do till it came to that part...seriously the guy did the whole "and there you go, thats how you do it" and absolutely skipped the whole ending...anyhoo whether I go the dinn 1 or 2 route I'm glad there's peeps who do show the whole process on installation be it stereos or light bars (how I found your site originally lol) cheers man keep up the good work

Why do we never see your mustang Chuck??? Would love to see it, it's my second love compared to Jeeps.
@Poweraddicts4 жыл бұрын
I swapped engines in it a while back. Pulled the harness to tuck and hide it. Then got into Jeeps and only fool with it occasionally. I've tossed around selling it but it is kinda fun to drive. It's got a warmed up 302 5-speed with 3.73 gears. All I gotta do is finish the harness and fire it up. With 2 Jeeps, one motorcycle that has been seen on the channel, another motorcycle that hasn't been on the channel, plus a full size rig that is gonna be on the channel soon. Lots of car insurance!! Just kinda losing interest in the Mustang. The interest may come back when I drive it again. But realistically, I need to thin down the herd!

What gauge wire did you use to make your harness?
@Poweraddicts4 жыл бұрын
I dont remember right off. Probably 12ga because I rarely keep anything less than 12 around the house. I typically keep 10 and 12 in spools. Then purchase heavy gauge like 1/0, 4, 6 or 8 as needed.
