Dude Joe is an absolute legend. I'm 34 and have been watching him on TV since the early 90s. I remember my dad and I watching Hot Rod TV when I was 4/5. Joe's the man

@gtellez19903 жыл бұрын
@@ThaSilentOne420 no it is it not, the 4.6 on these is a 3 valve. 03/04 cobras aren’t ruling anything. Even whippled on stock bottom end my 5.0 on 8psi will send them to gapplebees. On 15psi and e85 it’s not even worth my time.

FYI, most of the shows and episodes on this channel were aired on TNN-SPIKE-PARAMOUNT network TV channel as far back as 20+ years ago. This one was probably aired in 2010

So long for the 4.6 3 valve days. Thats stock coyote numbers with the blower on that car

Yes it is but when this was filmed the coyote wasn't even thought of
@waveformdistortion3 жыл бұрын
@@meanf1502 It should've been. The Coyote is such an improvement not because it's some super advanced high tech engine (it's really not), but because the Modular engine was outdated when it came out. They've always been boat anchors in waiting.
@TwentytenS4B83 жыл бұрын
This show was aired in 2010. Coyote was still a year off from release. Stock 4.6 3V in 2010 put out 315 HP and 325 Ft LB torque. Something isn't right with this build. They said they got 378HP at the wheels after mods and 272 before. So with a supercharger, ,exhaust, and intake they only made 106 more HP? With all that plus a tune, the power should be way more than that. Probably because they didn't upgrade the fuel pump or tune it properly. They just used a general canned tune and didn't do anything with it. Roush sent them something to get it running somewhat properly which was probably nothing more than calibrating the PCM for the larger injectors and that's it. You can get 106 HP from exhaust, intake, and tune alone. But that is sad output with a supercharger as well. Literally same numbers as just bolting a supercharger on a completely stock car with no tune, no exhaust, no intake, etc.
@bmstylee2 жыл бұрын
@@TwentytenS4B8 they didn't do a cam swap. That would be my guess on the low power. The blower and tune are nice but without more cam it won't make nearly what it's capable of.

@0:28 he says "it's the 70's all over again." We motorheads are luv'n the horsepower wars between the MoPar, Ford and Chev designers are sending our way these days BUT the ol feller missed it just a bit, the mid to late 60's should have been in that comment. Lest we overlook the big block's all three sent to the public commencing in the mid 60's. We must admit however today's muscle is so much more powerful, dependable than yesteryear's factory hotrods. Today we have tiny 4 cylinder cars capable of blowing the cars we thought were hot off the road and that's too cool.

Too much modifying the stock components. You can install a Vortech or Procharger kit and get the same if not more power with ALOT less cutting up the factory coolant lines and harness. Every one of these videos overlooks an important part of adding boost and that is upgrading the factory fuel pump to a high volume unit. You can install the biggest injectors on the market, but if the fuel pressure isn't there to feed them you will lean out under boost and not make the power you should if you're lucky. Most of the time, leaning out under boost means roached pistons and a destroyed engine. All that work installing a SC on top of exhaust, intake AND a tune and only making 106 HP over stock? You should be able to make 106 HP with just the exhaust, intake, and tune alone. What this tells me is the juice just isn't worth the squeeze with this particular build. Why would I hack up my heater core lines, wire harness, and alternator for a measly 106 HP when I can get that with a proper tune, exhaust, and intake? Roush just sent them a baseline tune which was most likely nothing more than calibrating the PCM for the larger injectors and that's it. Upgrade the fuel pump and dyno tune it with a competent tuner and then let's see the results.
