Those of you who are criticizing his videos please understand: he never claimed that you could get a PhD in electronics or Electrical Engineering watching his KZbin videos. He's just explaining stuff in a easy manner for the mass to understand and doing a damn good job at that. He reminds me of my mentor "Carl Sagan." No one could explain science better than he did to the mass. I have a PhD in these stuff and even I can learn a thing or two from his videos.

Even I, a dedicated Ludite, could understand this information. Seriously, with technology developing faster than our needs to understand it, and calling companies that sell the equipment unable or unwilling to provide the information necessary to make the equipment work; basic , clear, understandable help saves truck loads of stress and frustration. THANK YOU.

I have been watching your videos and they are by far, the best short tutorials I have ever seen on these subjects. You have literally taken the mystery out of so many things I did not understand. I cannot tell you enough how much I appreciate people like you. I have even gotten my girlfriend to watch them, and she is getting it, which is interesting of itself, because she had absolutely zero knowledge of any of these subject matters. The third band can also help with security. Use one of the bands for your smart home devices and another for your laptop, smart phone, iPad, etc. That will segment your home network. So if someone hacks your smart light bulbs, the entire network will not be compromised.

The another good reason is if the device support more than just 2.4GHz band ,we can just reduce the range within the home just applying5GHz one (and also each band has difference of subnets also)

This is a fantastic collection of KZbin videos on technology. The individual that does these is concise, speaks clearly, and uses excellent illustrations. Video after video and very short periods of time I understand very well the technology being discussed. Every part of this series of presentations works to perfection. The voice is not overpowering and yet very pointed we're delivering information the visuals are not spectacular and yet totally effective.

This video oversimplifies the multi-band transmitter, but the basics are correct. For example, the third 5GHZ band is usually reserved for the backhaul that is used for inter-transmitter communication in a network with repeaters. This band is not used for any other devices.

Not sure if this is out yet but a 3 band router could also be used for wireless bridging. Have 2 routers connect to each other on the 5ghz band for back haul and use the other 5ghz and the 2.4ghz for devices. Cool alternative to do what older wifi repeaters did without having the speed halve as the same signal was used to send and receive info

@@ardentdfender4116 I definitely recommend the one Powercerts linked and as for mesh extender I'd recommend this one: www.amazon.com/NETGEAR-Wi-Fi-Range-Extender-EX8000/dp/B074F3M2W8/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=mesh+extender&qid=1568912348&s=gateway&sr=8-3 . My Xfinity router has what appears to be "Smart Connect" - it decides whether a device gets 2.4 or 5.0. Problem is, not all wireless devices can connect successfully in that scenario. For example, wifi calling does not work on my phone with the Xfinity router. My solution? I ran an Ethernet cable from the Xfinity router to a Wireless Access Point. The WAP has two separate and distinct SSIDs - one is 2.4 and the other is 5.0. So now, all wireless devices connect to the WAP rather than to the Xfinity router. No more connection issues! An additional benefit: the WAP is more centrally located in the house than the Xfinity router, giving a good wifi signal to the entire house.

Okay, but the "tri-band" router has three "wireless interfaces." There will be a 2.4GHz interface, a 5GHz interface, and a 2.4/5GHz interface. Each can be assigned a unique SSID. If I give them all the same SSID will that cause the router to automatically distribute the load?

@arisweedler4703 5 жыл бұрын
@@eraser0artem @Kenneth if using 2 bands in the same frequency is a solution, then why don't we see 2 bands in the 2.4 GHz frequency? Is it because 5GHz is better to double up on given other reasons? (Like better speed, less collisions with stuff like microwaves, other stuff that I don't know) If doubling up on a band was always available, then why did people even switch to 5GHz in the first place? (If you're going to add a band, adding 5GHz is objectively better?) If 5GHz is better, why don't people completely switch away from 2.4GHz? (Backwards compatibility?)

Triband and multi lanes should have added: Its like adding a second fast lane vs just another lane since 2.4ghz devices only usually only work on just the one lane while the 5ghz devices usually will work on both.
