PowerColor RX6600 XT Red Devil - Video Card Review

I picked up this Video card for my daughter's "new" system. but, before I built the system, I asked the community if you wanted me to review it? And apparently 72% of you wanted me to. So let’s find out if the PowerColor RX 6600 XT Red Devil is any good.
What’s up everyone, Erik here and welcome to Hardware For Gamers. For those who are new to the channel, I review and test PC cases, CPU coolers, PC case fans and Video cards. Now, before I get into the overview, to have Full disclosure. I bought this video card myself from Amazon warehouse for 380 CAD or around 280 USD. As always I’ll start with a quick overview. There is just 1 model of the RX 6600 XT Red Devil, but PowerColor does also have the RX 6600 XT Hellhound and Fighter.

Great video card review! I was always wondering if the 6600XT was underated. I own a Red Devil 5700XT. I bought it in my crypto mining days but decided to build a white-on-black build. LOVE the Red Devil's! They look good and, with the RGB, they really enlighten a gaming computer! I think your daughter will enjoy hers!

I have a red devil 6600xt and is a solid card. Having the bios set to oc does matter and increases the fan curve but recommend an undervolt to help with temps and also allows it to boost higher for longer. Enabling smart access memory with a 5000 series amd cpu is a good performance boost as well.

got my card used, under load i'll see a 20 - 24c delta between the core and hotspot, is this normal? my hotspot can get up to 103 - 108c for brief moments but is usually sustained around 95 - 98c with a core of 70 - 74c. with a fan profile i can get the core down to 66c and hotspot to 85 - 90c.

Based on the temperature testing I did that doesn't sound right. Not sure what's happening, if it's fan speed, mounting pressure of the heatsink, or bad thermal paste.

i have problem with my rx 6600 xt red devil,its edge temp is mid 70c while the hotspot reached a whooping 110c,i might have to change the thermal paste,but i only have done it once,im a little bit scared😅,especially worry about tearing the thermal pads

I never opened this one, so I don't know what type or size the pads are. A 40c difference is crazy. I would first try to tighten the screws on the back (all of them) and see if any are loose.

​@@HardwareForGamerswell last night, i did replace the thermal paste & make sure to tighten the screws but it did not help with the temperature,all it did was increase the power draw from 120w to 140w which i assume a good thing?😅,so after that i did an undervolt+aggressive fan & got 70c edge while below 100c hotspot,only during gaming im getting the desired temp(same as your benchmark),so its the undervolt is my saving grace😅

I have a 1x pcie in my mobo that sits at the 3rd pcie slot, if I get the red devil 6600xt can I still use my 1x pcie? or should I only stick to 2slot cards?

No you will not be able to, this card is a 2.5 slot card.
