He's part of the Bill Gaither Trio. Bill & Gloria wrote so many gospel songs in the 70's & 80's. I had the opportunity to meet them at a revival we had. All those people on the stage are well known gospel singers. Bill even added comedy into their performances. Listen & watch the video of Jesus on the main line.

Honey, I have listened to many music coaches critique David’s performances. Like yourself everyone is blown away at his God given talent and his ability to touch the souls of so many. I had never seen you before but I confess, I thought oh here we go another coach who will stop his singing every other stanza to comment on how perfect he hit the G4 or the B2, etc…. But to my delight and great pleasure you did neither. You praised the Lord right along with the rest of us and waited until the song was over until you commented on David’s performance. David Phelps got his training at Baylor University and of course also as he has progressed in performance! Yet, David's heart belongs to the Lord Jesus Christ. This is where his gift comes from! All of his professors and music mentors steered David toward classical music. Yet, David wished to be used of God! So David embraced Gospel music to honor the God who gifted him his.voice and musicalty! Then by the way...... on the piano was the legendary Anthony Burger who passed from us to be with His God! We will always mourn his passing, yet we are forever grateful to have witnessed his gifted talent!
