When I was 24 years old I had a beer mug engraved with "Blowin In The Wind" I felt like it described my life at the time. I'm looking at the mug right now 45 years later.

Bob was only 21 when this album came out, wisdom well beyond his years. He is a true national treasure as you are finding out!

Wisdom? Or perhaps Demonization? Remember he made a "Bargain" with "The Commander in Chief" of this world and the World we cannot see. Hmmm, makes you think. 🤔🤔🤔🤔🥴

Very nice reaction. You did an excellent analysis of his lyrics. Want to hear an electric version to this song? That would be Neil Young’s cover on his Live Weld album. Neil not only completely shreds his Gibson but it’s the longing for world peace you can, or least I can, feel in his voice. I’m sure if you appreciate this song, just wait til you hear Bob Dylan’s dear friend get a hold it. For sure guarantee you one thing, you will never hear an intro into a song like this from Neil … Peace out

I think this is the very first song I ever learned in school so it will always have a special memory for me. Mostly whimsical to a seven or eight year-old but it just gets more and more profound over the years.

I remember singing these songs in school as a kid, too. The music teacher brought her guitar to class and we'd sing. I also remember singing If I Had a Hammer, The 59th Street Bridge Song (Feelin' Groovy), and Grandma's Feather Bed. This has been a fun trip down memory lane. 💚

I heard that this song was covered by over 500 artists, still powerful after hearing it so many times.

His girlfriend pictured on the album was Suze Rotolo, Dylan's girlfriend in the early 1960s. She wrote a memoir of those times, A Freewheelin' Time, which I loved. She died in 2011.

Really enjoying your reactions to Dylan songs as he was one of my favorite singers/songwriters. Thank you for respecting the artist and song by not pausing in the middle of the song.

Really enjoy your reaction to the lyrics. No insult intended, but artists like Dylan often go over the heads of kids today. Well done young man!

Bob has the gift! I don't know if he's got some weird cosmic connection thing going on, or he knows some universal secret that we don't, but the man can write songs that cut to the heart. There are some great songwriters out there, but Dylan has some X Factor to him.

I think you should know this info….. In 1965 Bob Dylan met the Beatles in London. In a hotel room Dylan turned them on to Cannabis for the first time… “We laughed and laughed and laughed” - Ringo Starr…… Dylan said to John Lennon…..You write nice little love songs like “I Want To Hold Your Hand”… BUT, you don’t say anything important, no social awareness and real meaning to your songs….. WELL, Lennon took that seriously and virtually every song he wrote after that was the best “Social Commentary” anyone has ever written. That is one reason Lennon and Dylan are my two favorite lyric writers, and now they may be yours too.

@AliasMark69 - If I’m not mistaken, Woody Guthrie was/is a bit of a hero to Dylan. Everyone stands on someone’s shoulders, even singular geniuses. I’d like to give some due respect to him in this thread. The musical lineage is apparent, even if Dylan had in theory never heard of him.

This came out when I was such a little kid the funny thing was not only was it on the radio all the time but we sang it in church! He's got at least a couple that many musicologist considered to be an early form of rap. The first one that pops into mine is called, Subterranean Homesick Blues. It's early like this one, and it really is amazing. And if I recall, the music video with it is also pretty Innovative for the time.

When Ed Bradley asked Bob Dylan how he wrote this song in 10 minutes while sitting in a park in Manhattan.. He said to I don’t know I picked up a pencil and wrote down my thoughts ! A lyrical genius !! Bob Dylan

"how many ears must one man have before he can hear people cry" I was 13 when I first heard this song I think it was The Peter paul and Mary version that was played on the radio but I've been listening to Bob sing this for 60 years and no one can sing Dylan songs as good as Dylan with the lone exception being "All along the watchtower" by Jimi Hendrix and I saw Bob in1976 and he did the Jimi version and told the audience that this song belongs to Jimi!!

There's another song in this genre that came right after, Barry McGuire "Eve of Destruction". It was recorded on the fly and wasn't expected to be a single but radio found it and turned it into one of the biggest hits of the '60s.

So Bro It might interest you to know this song spawned A Change Is Going To Come ! Bare with me ! So when Blowing In The Wind was first played to Sam Cooke , the song ended and Sam simply said without a pause, A black man should have written that ! He went away to write a song he thought would rival Dylans and wrote A Change Is Going To Come in direct response to this tune which Sam thought set the bar very high
