Just saved me over $500 dollars. Thats what my local independent LR specialist quoted me. I didnt need to take the door handle off to take the cables off (Front Driver side). If you pop the tear shaped gland out of the door that the wiring goes through, you have enough room to unclip and take the door cable off. Also, I lowered the window about 80mm, then taped it in place. That made it alot easier to remove the 2 white clips that go through the glass. Thanks for the effort you put into these videos. Bloody brilliant. If you have a patreon be happy to contribute.

A big thanks straight from China! A local Land Rover specialist in Beijing would charge me 200 pounds for replacing the rear passenger door lock (exact the same door in your demonstration video, but we are left hand drive country). I bought a lock online which only cost me about 20 pounds. Investing 1.5 hrs and by following your video step by step, the door is fully function now! Thanks again!

Thank you so much for these videos, they're a huge contribution to the Land Rover community. As someone who's just paid out £800 to get that exact door lock replaced (£500+VAT in labour) and to have the other side fail 6 weeks later it's a massive saving for me. I'm going to get the parts and give it a go. Thanks again.

Superb video guys. The handle removal was a mystery up till now. I assume it's pretty much the same for drivers door, except from an extra glass connector clip thingy? A video for the drivers door would be brilliant. I reckon cos they're used more often they'll break sooner. Love all your videos, amazingly detailed and informative. Thanks very much.

This is really helpful - the approach of removing the whole door handle mechanism as well as the actuator is I think the only real option(I tried not doing it first…..). The door I had to work on was passenger front- which has the additional challenge of the key activated lock. We figured it out eventually with the help of the Haynes manual ….when we were totally frustrated… If you could get round to doing a video on that it might be helpful to people.

Well done, saved me a fortune. Just to add that you can save more money by opening the actuator and replacing the motors, there is a video on you tube on how to do that, it's about an extra 15 minutes time and worth doing, in the country I live in we don't have ebay, I got the motors on wish (came from the uk), I also had to reset the ecu by disconnecting the battery for 30 min as it gave me an amber triangle notification about Rear door, that was on a 2014 Si4, thanks again

Great video. Just bought my first land rover a 2008 LR2 with only 88,000 miles on it ( I’m in the US). I ran across your videos and saw the one about the door can be open even when locked, so I tried my car and found the right rear door can be opened. Then I found this video on how to replace the actuator. In the first video you say the second actuator video will have a link above, or in the comments below and it’s not there. Thanks you for the detailed repair procedure. I used to work for Volvo cars of North America and when I had to write a service bulletin I would always make it so my mother could do the job.

Thank you very much for the tutorial, the lock had not worked for more than 2 months and this weekend, following your explanations, I changed the left rear lock that I bought online and it has worked perfectly again. Absolutely brilliant video. It saved me ages on the rear door. I then had to do the front door as well. What a different story. Real challenge getting the second window clip off ( I made up a long wooden wedge to open it up) and the small door handle cover. I could not get inside to release the clips on that small cover as you showed on the rear and ended up snapping the clips. Small price to pay I suppose for getting both door locks done. Many thanks for a great video

Hi, did you manage to sync the key fob to the front?
@thedapperdetectorist47413 жыл бұрын
Hi, great video, well done guys, this helped me no end. Only took me 2hrs for the rear door. My front offside had gone too so thought I’d attempt this myself as you hadn’t done a video for the front doors. Just to let you know, it’s pretty much the same as the rear except there are two looking slides for the window instead of one, and to take the small section of the door handle off you have to prize it away from the outside and try and push a tiny screw driver up inside to release the plastic clips. (It can’t be done from inside the vehicle) It’s very difficult and I ended up breaking one side of the clip but it still went back in and holds ok. Thanks again guys, Steve.
@julianhull91103 жыл бұрын
There is a small hole in the inner door directly opposite those awkward but fragile clips. You need a long, thin flat bladed screwdriver, some light inside the door and view what you are doing through the latch opening. Quite easy in the end, and all clips intact.

A note for the passenger side, insert key to remove the door handle cap. Remove the key barrel by taking out a torques screw on the side of the door and pull out the barrel before removing the door handle. To refit the barrel,screw the torque screw halfway into the mechanism then inset the barrel and tighten.

My rear door lock seems to be stuck when I try to lock the car. So the plastic thingy that indicates that the door is locked and that can be pulled out or pushed in to manually to lock the door is malfunctioning. Unlocking is no problem at all , everything works fine , but when I press the locking bottom on the key it gets stuck half way and the door stays unlocked. ( and the alarm goes off when I open the door) Do you guys or anyone here knows how to fix that ? Do I have to switch the whole door locking unit as you did in the video or is there an easier way to fix it ? It seems to be more of an mechanical and not an electrical problem , right ? Thanks a ton in advance
