I honestly don't understand how these guys sit in the pit . At any moment, an outside set could rear up. I've surfed 50 yrs, and if you got caught in front of one of these, It could be lights out. Awesome photography Powerlines.

Amazing! There were 3 of the Peter Mel waves (lightly capping, allowing for a roll in) but every one of those waves clamped. Makes Mel's wave that much more crazy rare.

Between the legit long period swell, and the rough wind conditions - seems like quadruple black diamond conditions... I think I surfed La Jolla on this swell... And it came up so fast - that was scary, too.

Try searching for a video that says “takers” with a giant wave in the thumbnail picture. I think the point to this video is gigantic waves happening and no one has the stones to ride them. Just my take on it anyways.
