Powermaster XS Torque Starter - Teeth Destroyed - How to Replace the Starter Gear with a New One!

Our new awesome started lasted like a month, but that wasn't our fault or its fault! We had a catastrophic flex plate failure that destroyed our starter gear on its way out, so, we need a new one, which is much cheaper than buying a whole new starter.

Does the 3rd hole in the starter mounting block line up also???

You can just use a pic and push that last retainer piece forward. It the goes to an angle exposing the c clip for removal.

We tried different things for maybe an hour or more... The c clip is super duper rigid and was almost impossible to bend in and out of place

I have been chewing up ring gear and I just found out there is a 11tooth starter gear that is smaller and a 9tooth starter gear Wich is just a bit bigger I have 11tooth no shims and could not get proper. Depth and chew up ring gear I have not switch to the 9 tooth just found out today.

I just bought a 3689 Powermaster starter it started a few times and now the Bendix will not engage the flywheel and it's a new flywheel and starter tried one shim , no shims , two shims still no engagement so I guess I got a dud .

@@billspaulding3434 It's my actual name it's an old Puritan surname that dates back to the 1600s and it's listed on Genealogy blog .com under First Connecticut Puritan settlers , I'm sure it didn't have the slang meaning associated with it in modern times .

@@direct998 It was the wrong starter bought the cast iron early version manual starter and it cured it's problems and the parts stores all sell the wrong starter for the manual transmission
