The people that write these shows are the best I can't imagine anyone else doing these episodes. The ratings are phenomenal and I see why now. They reflect the viewers watching the show. If it didn't hAve the history it wouldn't have the ratings it's as simple as that. If the new cars were more able to modify it would be a different story. You can't even get into a gm pxm because of the security codes locked into the stupid algorithm. If they made it easier to mod the home mechanic could do it. Now you are stuck to using a act box which usually won't pass the state inspection for monitors that won't be ready for the obd test. Also you can brick a pcm if your not careful. Qi can't imagine how much a 2018 camaro ss pcm would be. Let alone a 2004 mustang gt with pats keys that have.

@@dylanmathias1018 That is like asking what is the difference between a Chevy and a Ford. They are made by different company's (divisions) to totally different specs. The Ods, Buick, Pontiac 455 are all different bore and stroke, different crank shaft sizes and etc.

Dumpy 400? How many people do you know who have a 45 year old car that still runs as good as the day it was built? Because I have one. Treat it right and it will run forever! That's worth more to me than having the most horse power. My hot rods are always broke.

No it really wasn't, one those were pony cars, but that technicality aside the muscle car ear ended in '70 although the Pontiac still made quick cars until '74 with SD 455. Everything after '74 was gutless. That lasted for about a decade, until Dodge decided to a throw turbo on econobox Colt, making it quicker than the Corvette in '84. It was slow climb back to respectability until the 90's even then it's was Japaneses who upstaged the world by creating obtainable quick cars that had world class handling at the time. Both the NSX and RX-7 were the best handling cars at any price in he early 90's.

As someone who has owned both a '77 W72 and '78 W72 WS6 car, I can attest to the fact that in stock form, they are absolute pigs. So was everything else at the time. The '78 was still faster than the Corvette and Mustang of the day though lol. Nothing was fast or a true muscle car in the late 70's. The redeeming feature of the Trans Am was that it stayed true to big inch displacement and it looked far better than anything else. By that standard, it was for sure the only true muscle car left by then, but more in spirit than actual performance.

You tell by the VIN if any Pontiac A body is GTO from '66 on. The same is true of the SS 396 Chevelles. In '68 the 442 got it's own body code. I don't think Buick ever did that's for the GS, or GSX. Your out of luck for most other models as the VIN will only tell you if it came with a V8 or not. With enough leg work most of the time you can figure what they were originally but wont be as easy as checking the VIN.

Not needed with such a small camshaft. Most don't need it until you start using big aggressive camshafts.

How’s does it seal between the water neck and water pump?
@elmerfudpucker3204
@elmerfudpucker3204 4 жыл бұрын
There is a channel that mates up between the timing cover and intake manifold, and a special flat o-ring type of seal is installed to seal it. You have to be familiar with Pontiac engines to get it just right, and they still have a reputation of seeping a lot. If you ever get it right, it will be fine.
@kennydemartini2169
@kennydemartini2169 4 жыл бұрын
I always tighten the intake bolts just enough to hold it down, then torque the bolt on the water pump, then torque the intake bolts. A little silicone on the o-ring is a good thing to do also.

Your so called "GTO / Judge " expert needs to do more research around these cars. Code "72" on the Data Tag will show that it is a true Carousel Red / Hugger Orange painted car from the factory. Also, there were more than 1500 first production Judges manufactured in Carousel Red in early 1969. Side note, first production Judges did NOT come with "Judge" glove box emblems . Also, if a trunk is opened and can stay up without holding with your hands, it means that it has a heavier duty trunk lid rods - only found in Judges. I can go on and on. There are all kinds of ways to detect if a car is a real Judge - and yes, including a PHS.
