Here's a tip: use an open plenum spacer style gasket underneath that 4 hole. You don't want it flopping in the breeze and eventually tearing off to be ingested by the engine. I use the 4 hole on top to sneak in a 1/4" phenolic between it and the carb to help keep things cool.
@johnparrish92154 жыл бұрын
Take a look at the Summit carbs. They recently aired an episode of Engine Masters, they compared cheap carbs and compared them to a $800 Holley XP. The Summit did very well, it had the same HP and Torque as the Holley and cost $300.

Nice video. Back in the day, Chapstick kept the paper gaskets from sticking and tearing :) The fuel line kit is way over kill for the street. I prefer the metal ones that have a provision for a pressure gauge.

That 383 needs 2" headers and a 650 non choke. You will find the hp goes up even more, and on the end of those headers 3 1/2" collector.
@mikewillett50762 жыл бұрын
That would be some impressive torque numbers for maybe a 307. Even with 1 5/8 and 1 3/4 headers, that's weak for a 383. Torque is low especially for that HP level. Even kinda low for most modern 350 builds. Somethin ain't right.

Put a extremely fine wire mesh between the intake manifold and carb will make the fuel vaporise better, the problem is to find a fine mesh that doesn't restrict the air flow a lot
@mikewillett50762 жыл бұрын
It worked on my friends stock 305 quadrajet (low rpm, plenty of support for the mesh). Didn't work on my (at the time) 400ish hp 350 with an open plenum. When we checked, it was just gone! Lol

You guys should try Proform race series carbs They are a lot less expensive than a Holley and are fantastic carbs
@vengeanceizmine98784 жыл бұрын
Fantastic BECAUSE they are less expensive you mean? Certainly not because they work well, especially when they don't make power.. get what you pay for.
@engine22emt4 жыл бұрын
VengeanceIzMine no fantastic because they do make power Tons of it In fact when compared side by side to a Holley 850 On my 468 BBC A Proform in stock form produced 24.4 more rear wheel HP than a baker prepped Holley and once I sent the Proform To baker and got it back I had a total of 53.2 more rear wheel horse power than the Holley and since the initial cost was $178 less than the Holley I was already ahead
