Nfxd5 rather than Nexd5 was quite nice. The f6 knight was dominated by the f3 pawn while the e7 knight had further routes into the game.

Mr King, this may break your heart, but I wondered if you could show some games where the Kalashnikov fails. If it is true that we learn best from our mistakes, then it would be good to see some games where players make errors in playing this Kalashnikov. It may help your viewers avoid those errors in their game.

I have had this request before, but I find it very tough to go with it! I prefer to demonstrate best practice.

Wow, just finished watchinf that first game and had to comment : it was so instructive ! Also, it was really nice to take the time to name the players and where is was played. I would have castled instead of …d5, because I would’ve been worried to open the position against the bishops, but the Black king ending in the center for the endgame and the good vs bad knight seemes to prevail. Nice game !

A possibility I want to point out is to recapture on d5 with the other knight: Nfxd5!? With the idea to build the chain with f6 and park the bishop on e6. A rock solid fortress!

Hello Mr King. Thanks for the great video as always. I was wondering what you thought of this trendy line for black: 1. e4 c5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. d4 cxd4 4. Nxd4 e5 5. Nb5 d6 6. N1c3 a6 7. Na3 Be6 8. Nc4 Rb8. This seems to be the trend rather than 7... Be7 Thank you

There are three main moves for Black on the seventh move: 7...b5, 7...Be6, 7...Be7. All playable, all decent. Yes, 7...Be6 is currently quite popular, but no better than the other moves. It's just fashion. The important thing is, do you understand the line better than your oppponent? Remember that 7...Be7 has prevously been played by Carlsen, Gukesh, Nakamura... and if it is okay for them...

White coming out of the opening with a pawn on f3 and a knight on a3 is not called chess.

Just curious Danny, though I think I already know the answer… What are the chances of you writing a similar book on the Najdorf? I know, sounds onerous, and a potential 1000 page book. Say we gear down a bit. What about a book on the Najdorf for club players 2000 and below?

Does the Kalashnikov go by other names? How is it different from the lowenthal or the sveshnikov?
@Wolfinator234
@Wolfinator234 5 күн бұрын
The sveshnikov involves ...Nf6 before ...e5, meaning White has Bg5 and can exchange Bxf6 with positional advantage due to removing a defender of d5. Kalashnikov avoids that

@Wolfinator234 Ok thanks, I get so confused by all the different Sicilian variations!
@Bobby_Hall
@Bobby_Hall 5 күн бұрын
@@Heroball299The Lowenthal is 5…a6, which allows 6.Nd6+. The Kalashnikov starts with 5…d6, which stops White’s knight from hopping into d6.
